Dear High Point Families,
As the new school year begins tomorrow, I wanted to reach out with a warm welcome and a few important reminders.
Our dedicated staff has been working hard to prepare for an engaging and productive year ahead. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for all our students.
Here are a few key points to keep in mind for the first day:
FIRST 3 DAYS VISTORS-(PreK/ Kinder ONLY)
On the first day of school, ONLY PreK and kindergarten families will be allowed to walk their scholars to their classroom. PreK/Kinder Families will have to present a government issued ID or passport at the front desk to receive a visitor badge. All visitors will be asked to exit via the front doors by 7:40 AM so that the instructional day can begin.
ARRIVAL REMINDERS
- Students are never marked tardy when they arrive to school on the bus.
- No student should be dropped off and left unsupervised prior to the 7:10 AM bell.
- Students are considered tardy if they are not in their classroom by 7:40 AM. Did you know that morning announcements actually begin at 7:30 AM? Students that are not in their classrooms at 7:40 AM need to be walked to the front entrance and parents MUST sign their tardy pass before they are allowed to go to class. Tardies will start on Tuesday.
ASSISTED CARPOOL
- Carpool runs from 7:10-7:40 AM
- Carpool will be ending promptly at 7:40 AM so that teachers on duty can start instruction for the day.
- When teachers leave their post and start walking toward the building no other children should exit cars and come in through the carpool door. This is a safety and security concern.
- If you’re waiting in the carpool line at 7:40 AM and no one has opened your door, you will have to take your child to the front of the building to be checked in as tardy. Tardies will start Tuesday.
- Parents should not exit cars to open and assist their child in the carpool lane. This is a safety issue and stops the flow of the carpool line.
- All children should exit from the passenger side of the car. This is for their safety.
FRONT OF SCHOOL CARPOOL LANE REMINDERS
- This lane opens at 7:30 AM when ALL buses have arrived.
- This lane is for unassisted drop-off. This means that students must be able to get out of the car without an adult. This includes a parent. Parents should NOT exit the car. If you need to assist your child with exiting the car and walking into the building, you will need to park in the upper lot and walk your child into the building. Parking in the lane and walking your child into the building disrupts the flow of this carpool lane and will not be allowed.
- Students can ONLY be dropped off on the curb. It is extremely dangerous to drop a child off in the road rather than at the curb because they have to walk across flowing traffic.
DISMISSAL REMINDERS
- The bus will get students home faster than carpool.
- No students can be checked out after 2:00 PM.
- Buses MUST be dismissed before carpool can begin to make route times and not hold them up in traffic.
- Please line up ONLY heading south on Northland and High Point Drive so that you make a right-hand turn onto Greenland Road. DO NOT try and go straight or left-hand turn into school.
- DO NOT block driveways or intersections.
DRESS CODE POLICY
Students in the FCS school system are expected to dress and groom themselves in such a way as to reflect neatness, cleanliness, and safety. All students must dress appropriately so as not to disrupt or interfere with the educational program or the orderly running of the school. Extremes in clothing and grooming will not be allowed.
Examples include: lack of cleanliness in person or dress, barefoot, low pants for riding, short clothing, exposed abdomen, tank tops, spaghetti tank tops, see-through clothing, torn pants above the knee, clothing that designates gangs or represents alcohol, drugs, or sexual references. Skating shoes/heeleys are not allowed in the school. These skates/shoes pose a hazard at school.
The principal or other authorized school official will determine whether any particular manner of dress or grooming results in a violation of the Code of Conduct. Inappropriate attire is a violation of Rule 13 of the Fulton County Board of Education Code of Conduct. If the principal or other authorized school official determines that a student is not in compliance with the dress code, the parent or legal guardian will be contacted to bring a change of clothes. Multiple violations could result in disciplinary action.
School spirit clothing can be purchased through the PTO website.
LUNCH VISITORS-Will not start until after Labor Day
