HALO NOTES
St. Louis Catholic High School - Thurs. Aug. 1, 2024
From the Counseling Corner
Dear Saints,
Please review the “Words from Mr. Wyninger” passage in this Halo Notes edition, specifically the following paragraph:
“With the pairing of our Theology classes and philosophy classes (Theology I/The Human Person, Theology II/Principles of Ethics, Theology III/Bioethics, and Theology IV or optional Dual Enrollment Religion 201), it is a great joy to see our students be presented with the truths of our Catholic faith, but also be given the tools to think them through, in the hopes that the faith that once belonged to their parents will now be their own. It is our hope that with a healthy balance of both faith (theology) and reason (philosophy), each and every one of our Saints will rise to the contemplation of Truth!”
Freshman and Sophomore schedules will reflect this change for the 2024-2025 school year. Some students will take Theology I/Theology II in the Fall and others will take it in the Spring.
Every effort was made to accommodate students’ preferences in class choices. Any schedule change requests must be turned in on our schedule change request document with all parts filled out to be considered for a schedule change. This document can be emailed to your students' counselor or dropped off to the Counseling Department starting August 14 until August 28. Click here for the schedule change request form. Student schedules will be emailed to parents and students on Friday, August 2 at the end of the day.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

- As a reminder, uniforms with the old logo are no longer allowed, so please make sure all uniforms for the 2024-2025 school year have the new St. Louis Saints Logo.
- ONLY approved outerwear purchased through Southern Drifter will be allowed at school. Students have in the past put the logo on a non-uniform outerwear or shirt, but note these will not be permitted, so please help us by purchasing your outerwear from the school approved store.

ACADEMICS
Math Department
Classroom sets of calculators are provided for in-class use only and are in limited quantities. Students are not permitted to borrow or remove calculators from the math department for any reason. Due to a limited number of available calculators, we suggest that students bring their own. Please label with their name!
WHO NEEDS A GRAPHING CALCULATOR: Students in Algebra II and above will be using Graphing Calculators. Any student planning to take Dual Enrollment, PreCal or AP Calculus should start using this calculator as soon as possible to become familiar with it. Graphing Calculators can also be beneficial on the ACT, but only if the student has had ample practice with it.
WHO NEEDS A SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR: Any student taking Algebra 1 or Geometry can be successful with a scientific calculator if they already have one. However, if you are purchasing a calculator, a graphing calculator is a good investment for later courses. The more time a student has to familiarize themselves with the calculator the more they can benefit from its usage. The Math Department will demonstrate using the TI-84 Plus but any calculator on the ACT Approved Calculators list is acceptable.
