PRAYER TO ST. DOROTHY
By the radiance of thy holy life
you were counted worthy of divine glory
and did send roses and apples
from Paradise to Theophilus.
O Dorothy, ask that we who praise you
may receive the forgiveness of our sins.
Through Christ our Lord.
AMEN.

FEAST DAYS, RETREATS, AND DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP โช๐คฒ๐ป
Dear Bruin Families,
What a beautiful and busy week of faith and reflection weโve had! Our celebration of the Feast of St. Dorothy was a wonderful reminder of the power of faith, and it was inspiring to see our students, staff, and families come together in prayer on the feast day of our patroness.
Our TK-2nd grade retreat was another special moment, giving our youngest students the opportunity to grow in their understanding of Godโs love in a way that was meaningful to them. Their enthusiasm and openness to faith were truly heartwarming!
We also took time to honor the Feast of St. Blaise, reflecting on his example of healing and protection. The Blessing of the Throats was a beautiful tradition that reminded us of the importance of prayer, faith, and well-being.
Additionally, weโve been focusing on Digital Citizenship, helping our students reflect on how to be responsible, kind, and thoughtful in the online world. As technology continues to shape our daily lives, itโs essential that our students learn to navigate it with care and integrity.
As we move forward, letโs carry these lessons of faith, kindness, and responsibility with us into the coming weeks. Thank you for being part of this wonderful communityโwe are so grateful for each and every one of you!
Wishing you all a blessed and joyful week ahead. Go Chiefs? Go Eagles? Go sports!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryan Nearhoff
THE FEAST OF ST. DOROTHY ๐น
On Thursday, February 6th we celebrated the Feast of our patroness, St. Dorothy. It was a beautiful liturgical celebration with a special procession of flowers and apples and Dorothy herself (by way of 8th grader, Bella Vasquez). We also had framed pictures of St. Dorothy blessed by Fr. Ron at the end of mass to be placed in each classroom. Thank you to Mr. D., Ms. Cat, and all of the students who made the mass so wonderful!
If you care to learn more about or patroness, here are some videos provided by Mr. D to give you some background knowledge!

๐ฅ BEATS AND BREWS 2025 ๐ป
More squares sold! Thank you to our families who have purchased squares. Purchase yours in the office or by clicking the link button below. We appreciate your support!
TRAFFIC SAFETY ๐ฆ
It has been reported that cars are entering into the south entrance by the rectory to pick up at the end of the day. For the safety of all, including our dear priests, please do not use that as an entrance.
Also, please remember not to stop your car in front of the office at drop-off. We understand that you wish for your children to be on time but it is not worth the potential accident in the parking lot. Thank you for understanding!
TK-2ND GRADE RETREAT ๐
Our TK-2nd graders had an unforgettable time at their retreat this week! Using the story of King David as their guide, they learned how to stand tall in their faith and "Be A Champion" for Jesus. Thank you to our youth minister Amanda Timko, our parent volunteers who planned and worked the retreat, and to our teachers and staff for their assistance and support.
TUTORING FROM ST. DOROTHY ALUM
We were paid a visit last week from a Bruin alum, Daniel Haddad who is offering one on one tutoring services. He is a recent UCSB graduate and a St. Dorothy graduate of 2016. He is currently in a gap year before heading into medical school this fall and is offering tutoring services. Please note that this is private tutoring and not directly affiliated with St. Dorothy. See the flier below for more details and a QR code to sign up.
COLOR RUN T-SHIRTS ๐
As a reminder, please complete the form below so that we have every child's t-shirt size for the Color Run coming in March. Thank you!
JOIN THE ALUMNI DIRECTORY! ๐
We are seeking to build our online database of Bruin Alumni. If you are still in contact with or know any Bruin alums, please send them this link and encourage them to join our database. We will be having special opportunities for alumni at this year's Beats and Brews and want to invite back as many as we can.

DID YOU KNOW?
February 8-9 || Books can help children understand difficult situations
All children are bound to experience difficult events as they grow up. When complex situations arise before children develop the ability to fully articulate their emotions, books can help them feel more at ease with feelings of anger, frustration, and sadness. While a book canโt make everything better, stories can often help provide understanding and comfort. The picture book โWildfire!โ gives children a look at forest fires, firefighting and protecting natural spaces. The book can be found at https://a.co/d/7LyZzsX.
Mission Statement
To educate TK-Eighth grade students in a Catholic environment in which the curriculum emphasizes spiritual, ethical, and social values of the Catholic faith to become responsible and moral citizens within the global community.
Philosophy
Supporting the belief that parents are the primary educators of their children, we as educators at St. Dorothy Catholic School, dedicate ourselves to partner with the parents in preparing children to become contributing members of the community. To achieve this, we provide holistic development in psychological, emotional, social and physical health, with an emphasis on academics, faith, and Christian service.
In collaboration with parents, we champion student achievement through the presentation, practice, and study of Catholic doctrine, a strong academic curriculum, multimedia and multi-cultural experiences, physical education, extracurricular programs, and the dedicated commitment of the teachers and staff.
