Week 5 - Thursday 29th February 2024
Principal's Message
God of abundant mercy,
give us the courage to ask humbly
for forgiveness where we have failed,
and to grant it where we have wronged another.
Heal our wounds and make us whole,
that we might find the joy of life lived fully. Amen.
Complaints and Disputes
At the end of each Kindy interview, I speak directly to with prospective parents about our Code of Conduct and How to Deal with a Dispute or Complaint.
The school’s Code of Conduct describe minimum standards behaviour and decision making to ensure the safety and well-being of students and all members of our community.
Expressing anger or frustration over school issues on Facebook, Instagram or other social media platforms before speaking with the teacher/staff member concerned, does not give the school the opportunity hear and resolve the issue. Such venting is also contrary to our Code of Conduct which applies to all members of our community. In some circumstances such verbal or written communication may place the author at risk of committing a libellous offence.
Catholic Education WA’s Disputes and Complaints Policy makes it clear that all issues of dispute or complaint must be addressed in the first instance at the school level. The first step is to speak with the teacher or staff member concerned. We are unable to address issues if they are not discussed with us when an issue arises.
The best way to contact a teacher or staff member is via email or Seesaw message. Teachers will endeavour to respond to your email within 48 hours and set up a mutually agreeable time to meet and discuss your concerns or they may have a quick chat if they see you before or after school. Discussing concerns face-to-face is the best way to listen to each other and resolve issues.
Uniform Changes
We have significant stock of boys’ grey summer and winter shorts and long pants and efforts to sell these have caused much concern amongst parents who would like their children to be wearing the new uniform.
For several weeks now I have been in consultation with the Uniform Shop as I am aware the purchase of our existing uniform in 2024 and the new uniform in 2025 would place a financial burden on parents.
I am pleased to announce that any and all requests to purchase the new uniform this year, for children in Years 3 to 6, will be processed. Parents of Year 6 students are still able to purchase our existing uniform if they choose to do so.
We are investigating the possibility of selling our existing stock of grey pants at cost to schools who run their own uniform shop and stock grey shorts/pants.
Running Club
Our 8am Monday morning Running Club is on again. Students who are participating in Running Club are asked to wear their sports uniform to school. They will be permitted to remain in their sports uniform for the remainder of the day – even if it is not a day when they have a PE lesson.
Students who wear their sports uniform on Monday but are not participating in Running Club will be given a Uniform Infringement Notice.
God Bless

Project Compassion
Throughout this lenten season, the Mini Vinnies team are thrilled to announce that our school will be participating in Project Compassion once again. Throughout this season, we'll be fundraising to support those in need.
As part of our fundraising campaign, we will be serving icy poles every Tuesday for just 50 cents! We will serve these at the canteen.
Also, there will be a class competition, where the class that donates the most will earn a well-deserved free dress day.

This helps to support the connection between home and school and we know we can achieve the best outcomes when we work together. If you have ongoing issues accessing Seesaw, please contact Katharine.gelle@cewa.edu.au, so that you don’t miss out on this valuable opportunity to engage with your child’s learning and be up to date on important information.
