Happy New Year!
Reminders!
Parent Pick Up and Drop Off
We request you pick-up or drop-off by entering our parking lot area off of Ralls, circle around the parking lot and pull forward along the sidewalk. To help the flow of traffic please stay in your vehicle, we are happy to help with opening and closing doors for our little ones.
Winter Wear!!
Cold weather is here. Please make sure your child/children are dressed warmly for school. Don't forget our students spend two recesses outside, thus making it important that they have transitioned to heavier coats, gloves, hats, long pants and tennis/loafer type shoes.
PTA Meeting
General Meeting with Levy Presentation will be rescheduled for a later date.
End of our First Semester
The first semester (second quarter) ends January 24. Our district assessment window opens Monday 1/8/24 and closes Friday 2/2/24. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher if you have any questions. Our team is happy to be apart of your child's academic career and look forward to continue our communication with families into the new year.
Counselor Corner
Happy New Year Longview families and friends! Hope everyone had a safe and relaxing two weeks for Winter Break. As your school counselor, let me tell you about what is coming up and how things are going.
Next week Safety Patrol Students will be extending their patrolling down to Maple Drive and will be greeting students at the Parent Pickup in the mornings. We are excited to expand our patrolling, as well as, keeping students, parents, and staff safe.
Just wanted to give a shout out to the staff, students, and parents for last month's Staff & Student of the Month event. It is always rewarding to see our staff get recognized for the work they do every day. We had a great turnout of parents who attended. Parents and students took advantage of our new Longview Hawks backdrop and took pictures.
Last month in December we also had our big prize drawing for our Hawk Points. Some of our students walked away with some very impressive prizes. Keep up the good work Longview Hawk students. We will have one more big prize drawing in the spring for our Hawk Points.
Kickball has been revamped and we are having solid participation from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Let's keep it going strong!
Did I mention Football Fridays? We have had consistent participation and appreciate keeping this activity consistent each week. Sportsmanship and following the football rules of the game are important to making it fun and safe.

Physical Education with Mrs. Lacelle
Hi Longview families,
Welcome Back! January is always an exciting time to be back, especially in P.E. During the month of January people are busy making goals for 2024. One goal that would have a positive impact on students is less screen time and more time being active! In PE students learn all about the importance of staying active and making healthy choices. During these cold months it can sometimes be difficult to stay active. Think of some creative ways as a family where you can all move more!
JANUARY P.E.
This month students will be working on a lot of skills with our main focus being on striking. Striking skills are used in a wide variety of sports and physical activities. Students will engage in games such as 4-square, volleyball basics, pickleball, and hockey. K-2 students will begin to explore these different types of activities while building their striking skills during developmental play games. Our 3-5 students will be working on their skills and development through activity specific games.
MAX YOUR DAY PHOTO WALL
Here at Longview we like to spotlight students that make the choice to be active outside of the school day. In our gym we have a photo wall of students that are being active outside of school. If your child is making the choice to get up and be active, we want to celebrate that! Take a picture and send it to me at jlacelle@mlsd161.org and I will place their picture on the wall.
