Read A Thon
As of 2/16 /25 we have 168 students registered. So far we have had over $6000 donated and our students have read 60195 minutes! Our past Read a Thon funds have helped purchase new library books and the electronic reader board on the old gym. This year the money will go directly to the elementary playground. We are hoping to raise enough for a zipline!
Final results will be posted on social media

Guest Speaker Assembly
Thursday, February 12th, Bill Deering spoke to our students. Here is a little bit about Bill:
" I have something to share with you. Growing up I had a severe stutter. It would take me three minutes to say my first name. Three minutes to answer the phone. I would stutter and say the word “um” 100 times before I could say the first sound in “hello”. I didn’t speak on the telephone until I was twenty years old. I was bullied because of my stutter. I stuck out like a sore thumb. Classmates and others would say “did you hear him; his name is B-b-b-b-b-b-ill. He sounds like Porky Pig”. Fellow students (upperclassmen) called me an idiot, stupid, or retarded. It was relentless. The impact of bullying was that I was afraid to make eye contact with others. I was nervous all the time. I had low self-esteem and thought very little of myself. I was sad because I didn’t have anyone to talk to. I was lonely because I didn’t have any friends, and I was frustrated because I couldn’t speak.
My life was at a crossroad. To combat the bullying, I took a risk and went out for the football team. While on the football team, teammates accepted me, and I began making new friends. When I returned to school in my junior year of high school, I had new goals. I shared my goal of getting no grade lower than a C with my new friends. With the support of others, my grades improved dramatically, my self-confidence improved as well, and I stopped allowing myself to be bullied and teased by others. My hope is that my personal experience will support your students to be self-confident, to persevere through adversity, and to achieve real life goals and have fulfillment."

Football Helmets
High School Football parent meeting coming soon!
The Shoshone football team has been leasing helmets for the last several years. We have always leased a helmet that meet all safety requirements and have not seen a rash of concussions since we began leasing. Over the past few seasons a few parents and players have asked if we could lease different styles of helmets. This year we are offering parents and players an opportunity to, if they choose, to lease a different style of helmet. The only caveat is the parents and players would be responsible for the difference between the helmet we lease and the additional cost. I would caution you that just because a helmet is a higher price to lease does not mean it will prevent concussions or injuries.
Here is the lease helmet lineup for 2025.
