Safety Reminder
In light of recent safety incidents reported by Round Lake and Grayslake police, we urge you to discuss these key safety tips with your children:
- Stay Alert: Be aware of surroundings, especially when commuting to and from school.
- Avoid Strangers: Don't interact or get into vehicles with unknown individuals.
- Travel Together: There's safety in numbers; encourage traveling in groups.
- Report Anything Unusual: Tell a trusted adult or school staff about any suspicious activities. Call 911 if necessary.
- Follow Safe Routes: Use well-lit, busy paths and avoid shortcuts.
- Emergency Contacts: Ensure your child knows important phone numbers.

Middle School Intramural Esports
Esports is a new intramural that will allow you to play your classmates in competitive video games for an hour and a half after the school day ends. We will cover and learn how video games can and are played competitively and learn the skills used by professionals to beat the competition. For this round of intramurals, we will be using Nintendo Switch and focusing on Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Mario Kart 8.
The intramural will run for a six week cycle starting the week of February 12. More information will be shared soon by the coaches at your specific school.
Kindergarten Information Night!
JOIN US February 6, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Middle School North, located at 201 Hawthorn Parkway. This is a special evening for parents to gain insights and valuable information about preparing for kindergarten. Our presentations, available in both English and Spanish, will cover a range of essential topics including registration procedures, dual language program options, a glimpse into a day in the life of a kindergartner, opportunities to meet our dedicated principals, and much more. We look forward to welcoming you and embarking on this exciting educational journey together!

Please mark your calendar for this year’s summer program dates!
Summer Program offerings include Hawthorn Music Camp, Hawthorn Enrichment Institute (HEI), Extended School Year (ESY), Summer Scholars, and Early Start Kindergarten. More information about program offerings and registration will be shared after winter break.
Summer School Dates: Monday, June 10 - Tuesday, July 9.
Session 1: June 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 20 (HEI)
- Session 2: June 24, 25, 26, 27 & July 1, 2, 8, 9 (HEI and Music Camp)
No School: June 19, July 3, July 4, Fridays.
