The Club is a Teen program explicitly designed to provide meaningful experiences today so teens are ready to chase their dreams tomorrow.
The Boys & Girls Club is excited to offer “Fun Fridays” afterschool programming to students at Herget Middle School At the Club, we aim for each teen member to have fun in a safe environment while fostering supportive relationships with staff and peers, exposing youth to unique program opportunities, and recognizing members for their efforts and accomplishments.
The Basics:
· Our teen program offers FREE membership to ensure that all students interested in participating can join.
· Programs are offered on Fridays from dismissal until 6:00pm, on days when school is in session.
· Close-to-home evening transportation is provided for eligible students at 5:15pm.
· A 1:15 staff-to-student ratio is maintained to ensure that members get the support and attention needed from our team of youth development professionals.
· Nutritious snacks are provided daily after school.
What We Offer:
· Academic Enrichment – Students participate in hands-on learning activities that promote literacy and STEM.
· Social Emotional & Community Building Activities– Our students participate in positive community activities that develop social skills and relationship building.
· Sports & Recreation - Activities will build self-esteem, positive communication skills and promote physical fitness, leadership skills and working as a team.
· The Arts – Visual arts, crafts, and performing arts help promote creativity and self-expression.
· Extras – In partnership with local businesses, students have the opportunity to participate in field trips and engage with leaders in the community.
· Character and Leadership Programs: Million Members, Million Hours of Service
· All Ages
Studies show that young people who engage in service do better in school, maintain positive relationships with adults and avoid risky behaviors. The Million Members, Million Hours of Service initiative aims to engage 1 million Boys & Girls Club youth in service projects each year, with each donating at least one hour of service.
