Cookie Request from the Library!
Cookies please!
This year we will again be doing “Buddies and Books” in the library the last week of school before break! We really enjoy this chance for our younger students to get to read a Christmas book with an older student. Each student will also get to pick out a free book, thanks to the generosity of the grandparents who shopped at our Book Fair in September. We are taking donations of store-bought cookies for the event as well..please send to the office or the library. Thank you!

BES Art Corner
Last week and this week in art have been jammed packed with all things holiday related! Our grateful tree is up and looks stunning! I love when the students walk by it and point out the leaf that they wrote on!
6th grade has been working on their crayon resist cup of hot cocoa! They learned the history of hot chocolate and then got to design their own mug with something that represents them! They are turning out so awesome! 5th grade listened to a modified version of the famous Nutcracker! They drew their own Nutcracker and gave it tons of personality! 4th grade listened to the story Tacky's Christmas by Helen Lester and then drew their own penguin. Their penguin was then colored with chalk pastels as they worked to master blending. They put their penguin on their painted winter scene, and I just had to have them add glitter! 4th grade listened to the book Mingo the Flamingo by Pete Oswald and Justin K. Thompson. This adorable story is about a little flamingo that loses this way but, in the end, finds out who he is and where he belongs. The 3rd graders drew and then painted their holiday flamingo! We are working on painting smoothly and taking our time with the fine details!
2nd graders listened to the story; Harold Loves his Woolly Cap by Vern Kousky. Harold the bear loves his woolly cap and wants to get it back after a black crow grabs it! He does everything to get it back, he climbs the tree and finds three baby crows in the nest snuggled up with his favorite cap. He lets the babies keep the hat and realizes that is a good thing to give to others who need it more. Then they drew their own woolly hat and decorated it to represent themselves! 1st grade listened and sang to the classic Roudolph the Red Nose Reindeer song, then they drew Roudolph! We will be adding several layers to this art project!
Kindergarteners painted a paper plate green and transformed it into an amazing Christmas tree!
