Loveland School Update
Dear Loveland Families,
Westside Community Schools is excited to continue moving forward with the bond phase two that includes Loveland Elementary! Our current building, built in 1932, has served generations of students in its 35,000 square feet, and now it's time to create new spaces that match the excellence of our community. Here’s a look at what’s coming next:
This winter, Westside will partner with Project Advocates to publish a Request for Quote (RFQ), with the goal of selecting an architecture firm by March 2025. This is a critical step that will bring us closer to making our vision for the new Loveland a reality.
We’re also forming a Design Advisory Committee made up of school staff, parents, and community members who will collaborate with the architecture firm beginning in April 2025. If you’re passionate about shaping the future of Loveland, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact Steph Hornung at hornung.stephanie@westside66.net. Selected committee members will receive an email with updates on meeting dates and times.
Upcoming Plan:
We will finish the 2025-26 school year at Loveland as it stands today, celebrating the legacy of this historic building.
For the 2026-27 school year and the first semester of 2027-28, we’ll move temporarily to the Swing School at 3534 South 108th Street while construction is underway. To support families, the district will explore providing busing options from the Loveland neighborhood as needed.
If all goes as planned, we’ll be moving into Loveland in early January 2028, finishing the second semester of the 2027-28 school year in our state-of-the-art facility!
Updated Loveland:
A spacious, modern building with 55,000 square feet, designed to support both learning and community growth.
Improved pick-up and drop-off areas, allowing for more space and safer traffic flow for vehicles, walkers, and bikers.
The addition of two preschool rooms, expanding our early childhood education offerings—an exciting first for Loveland!
This project is a tremendous opportunity for our community, and we couldn’t be more excited about what is ahead. We’re building a space that will inspire and support our students, staff, and families for generations to come. Thank you for being part of this journey!

Loveland Community Club Meeting Information
The Loveland Community Club meeting will be Monday, October 7, 2024 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held in Mrs. Kammandel's second grade classroom. Hope to see you all October 7th, at 6:30PM to learn more about how you can support Loveland Elementary School.
Smart Gen Society 4th-6th Grades
Dear Loveland 4-6 Grade Families,
Studies have shown that social media and digital devices can significantly impact the mental health of our youth. That is why Westside Community Schools has expanded its partnership with Smart GEN Society to now include grades 4-12. WCS has been partnering with Smart GEN Society with conversations happening at WHS and WMS, as well as community forums. We appreciate Smart GEN Society's approach, which is age-appropriate, non-judgemental, and relevant to each grade level. Their relatable content allows students to connect quickly and hear the heart of the message.
Smart GEN Society will be at Loveland presenting to our students on October 15. Be on the lookout for more information from the district about community forums from Smart GEN Society that are open to the public.
Halloween Update
Dear Loveland Families,
Halloween is just around the corner, and we’re excited to celebrate with some of our favorite events! As you begin planning costumes, we ask that they be fun and friendly for our school parade and party. To keep things light and enjoyable for all students, please avoid costumes that include blood, gore, scary masks or clothing, and any type of weapon. We also ask that you save face makeup for trick-or-treating later in the evening. If you have any questions about the appropriateness of a costume, feel free to contact the office. Thank you for helping us keep the festivities fun for everyone!
Important reminders:
- Please do not have your child wear their costume to school. If the costume consists of regular school-appropriate clothing or can be worn under their outfit, that would be ideal.
- Students will have a brief time to change into their costumes before the parade, but they should be able to do so with minimal assistance from teachers.
Mark your calendars! The 2024 Halloween Parade and Parties will be held on Thursday, October 31st. Weather permitting, the parade will take place outside at 2:00 PM on the track, followed by classroom parties.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you and make this a fun, festive day for all!
Veteran's Day Information
Dear Loveland Families,
Please join us in honoring our Loveland Community Veterans this Veterans Day with a special school assembly on Monday, November 11th at 9:30 AM. Please invite your veterans who may be in your family or circle of friends to our special event! On this day all members of the Loveland Community of Learners will be wearing red, white, and blue. Due to seating limitations, our assembly will include only our students, staff and our special veterans and their families/guests.
In order to thank our service men and women, Loveland students would like to send personalized thank you notes to Veterans. Please help us by clicking on the button below to fill out a form providing the name and address of a Veteran by Wednesday, November 1st. We will then send a thank you note via U.S. Post to the identified current or former service member. Thank you for helping us celebrate our Veterans.
Classroom Treats and Birthday Treats
Birthday Treats and classroom treats are a special way to celebrate your child with his/her classroom. Birthday treats are not required, but appreciated. They can be consumable or non-consumable. If you choose to bring in food, it must be an approved treat or snack from our District's Healthy Snack List.
