Our Curriculum!
The SC classes use an adapted curriculum called enCore! There are a total of 36 units, and those units are banded by grade levels. All of our classes have multiple grade levels. Due to this, some classes might use two units simultaneously. For example, a class might use a unit for kindergarten through second and a different unit for grades third through fifth. Each unit consist of an adapted fiction book and an adapted nonfiction book. It takes six weeks to complete one full unit with three weeks per book.
For more information on our wonderful curriculum please visit the link below!
What we Learned Last Week!
In literacy, we continued our fiction books. Our GAA students were working on homophones.
Last week in math, our GAA students were working on decimals.
Last week in science, our GAA students were reviewing constructive/destructive forces, animals with vertebrates and nonvertebrate, and circuits.
What we are Learning This Week!
In literacy, we will continue working in our fiction units. Each book has a variety of phonics built in. This changes every day. Depending on the book, the phonics could range from letter identification, letter sounds, counting syllables, or decoding words.
- Ms. Payne is using the book Caterpillar Looks for a Shoe.
- Mrs. Bassery is using the books Busy Mother Hen and The Ugly Duckling.
- Mrs. Banks is using the book Tortoise and the Hare.
- Ms. Turnbull is using the book Alice in Wonderland.
Our third-fifth graders will be participating in their state assessment, Georgia Alternate Assessment 2.0 (GAA).
Mrs. Banks' class does not participate in state in assessments due to their grade-levels. this week her class will work on the following:
-ELA: Action Verbs and Opinion Writing
