CALLING ALL ARTISTS! It is time to submit your Reflections entry this year. The National PTA Reflections theme for the 2024-25 school year is "Accepting Imperfections”.

You may only enter ONE piece per the following art categories you qualify for:

• Dance Choreography

• Film Production

• Literature

• Music Composition

• Photography

• Visual Arts (2D and 3D)

Only new and original works of art will be accepted. All entries are due by: November 12, 2024

A Note Regarding PTA Memberships and Popcorn Days:

All students of currently registered PTA members receive free popcorn on our monthly popcorn days. In fact, for families with two or more students at Wixom Elementary, it’s cheaper to join the PTA than pay for Popcorn Days separately! Please be advised that PTA memberships must be renewed each school year. In order to join the PTA for this school year, please visit the PTA website

COLOR RUN

There is still time for your children to get sponsor donations for the Color Run so students can earn school-wide prizes. We will accept donations until October 15th. Remember that all of the money goes to our PTA to provide events and supplies for our students. Click here to donate: Color Run Fundraiser

Please have your student return the blue donation form by October 15th as well.

We will be celebrating Halloween on Thursday, October 31 at Wixom Elementary. Students will be allowed to wear costumes to school, however, masks covering the eyes or entire face and large costumes are not permitted on the bus.

All costumes must be wholesome and school appropriate. Please follow these additional guidelines:

· No toy weapons including guns, swords, and knives.

· No costumes with fake blood or death-related.

· No costumes that reflect anything related to violence, drugs, or alcohol.

All families are invited for our Outdoor Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31 at 11:30 am. The parade will be outside along the Walking Path, if weather permits. If it rains, we may need to cancel the outdoor parade.

Since October 31st is a half day of school, students will go back into the building after the parade to pack up. For the safety of all of the children, parents must follow the Wolf Pup pickup procedures starting at 12:25 pm to pick up your child from school.

The class of 2032 is having a can and bottle drive to raise funds for their end-of-year celebration. Cans can be dropped off at the container by the cafeteria doors, or text (734) 891-4933 to arrange a pick up. No cans? No problem! Use this link to donate to the 5th Grade Celebrations.

Join us for a pasta dinner open to ALL Wixom Families. Thursday, November 7th 5:30-6:30, 6:30-7:30, or 7:30-8:30. Dinners are $10 a person and can be dine in or carry-out. Return this order form with payment (cash or check made out to Wixom PTA) by October 28th.

The Walled Lake Consolidated Schools is again participating in a program to honor exemplary teachers/educators. We hope you will join us in an effort that will result in the selection of the Teacher/Educator of the Year for the Walled Lake Consolidated School District at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. This honor will be bestowed at our Thursday, January 9, 2025 school board meeting.

Please use the attached fillable nomination form to nominate a deserving Walled Lake Elementary educator and return to Wixom Elementary NO later than Friday, October 18, 2024. Nominations can be emailed directly to taneiagiles@wlcsd.org or turned into the front office. Any full time, certified, tenured teacher/educator who spends 50% of his/her time in a classroom with a minimum of five (5) full years of classroom teaching experience is eligible to receive this award. Any person in the school community may nominate any teacher/educator in the District for this honor.

It can be tricky to nominate a teacher so early in the year, as you are just getting to know them. Some nominations are based on a family’s experience thus far this school year, some are based on a teacher they had on the past, and some are based on a family’s experience with a teacher through the years with multiple children from their family.

Looking for an easy way to support our school? Shop for groceries at Kroger and they will contribute money to our PTA. It’s easy to sign up in the Kroger App:

please contact the school and we may be able to let you borrow a Chromebook. We have a limited number of Chromebooks available for students to borrow for the year.
