Thank you to our 8th grade WEB leaders for running a fun 6th grade Advisory this past Tuesday, focused on building community and for hosting some lunchtime activities this Friday in the gym!

We are hosting our annual 6th Grade Parent Night this Monday, Sept 23, from 7:00 - 8:00pm. Our topics for the evening include:

• Middle School 101 and FAQs for Thriving at Smith
• Navigating Schoology - Our Online Learning Management Platform
• Pre-Teens, Cell Phones, and Social Media

We are looking for parent volunteers to help monitor our media center this year during lunch time on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11:15am to 1:00pm. The responsibilities include supervising students, shelving books, and checking books in and out on the computer. Volunteers must be dependable and able to place books in numerical and alphabetical order. Some computer skills are required and will be taught during training.

Please bring with you a copy of your driver’s license to attach to the Volunteer Background Form, which you can fill up and submit when you attend the meeting.

Returning volunteers from previous years need not attend but should still turn in the background form to the office and contact Mrs. Chatel to stay on the volunteer list.

Each student in grades 2-12 who wishes to participate in the Troy School District 1:1 Device Insurance Program will be required to pay an annual insurance premium of $25 per student, not to exceed $100 per family. Kindergarten and 1st grade students have classroom sets of iPads that are shared in the classroom and not brought home, thus, no personal insurance is needed.

The iPad Responsibility form no longer needs to be signed/submitted, as it is covered under the Student Technology Acceptable Use Policy.
