Welcome to 2025!
A Message from Mr. Rutledge
Dear Families,
Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope your winter break was filled with joy, relaxation, and cherished moments with loved ones. As we step into this new year, we are filled with excitement for the opportunities ahead and the chance to work together to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students.
This semester, we are embracing the theme of positivity and grit. These qualities remind us that challenges are stepping stones to growth and that with determination and a positive mindset, anything is possible. As the famous author Angela Duckworth says, “Enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare.” Let’s inspire our students to endure, strive, and shine in all they do!
We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to our outgoing board members: Rob Talley, Aaron Koch, and Adam Boles. Your dedication and service to our district have left an enduring legacy. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the success of our schools.
At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome our new board members: Daniel Turnbull, Maddie Coleman, and Lori Strieby. We are confident that their leadership, passion, and fresh perspectives will help guide our district toward a bright and successful future.
A quick reminder for our upper-grade students: please bring your Chromebooks to school each day fully charged. Being prepared is a simple yet powerful way to start each day with intention and focus. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” Let’s empower our students to create their success by showing up ready to learn and grow.
As we begin this second half of the school year, let’s commit to working together as a team to support our students in every way possible. Your encouragement at home, coupled with our efforts in the classroom, creates an unstoppable force for success. If you have questions, concerns, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for your continued trust and support. Let’s make 2025 a year of resilience, joy, and achievement. Together, we can help every child reach their fullest potential. Go Colts!
Warm regards,
Tyler Rutledge

Attendance Tips for Parents and Families
Consistent school attendance is a key ingredient for academic success! Here are some tips to help your child attend school regularly and thrive:
Set a Positive Tone
Talk to your child about the importance of attending school every day. Share how being present helps them learn, build friendships, and prepare for the future.
Establish Routines
Bedtime: Ensure your child gets enough sleep to wake up refreshed and ready for the day.
Morning Routine: Create a calm and organized morning routine to minimize stress and make arriving on time easier.
Plan Ahead
Schedule family vacations during school breaks and make appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
Prepare backpacks, Chromebooks, and clothes the night before to avoid last-minute delays.
Stay Informed
Keep track of school calendars and special events.
Communicate with teachers and staff if your child will be absent for any reason, and ensure they complete any missed assignments.
Address Health Concerns
If your child isn’t feeling well, consider whether their symptoms require staying home (e.g., fever, vomiting). Otherwise, encourage them to attend.
For ongoing health issues, work with the school nurse or staff to develop a plan that supports your child’s attendance.
Encourage Responsibility
Teach older students to set alarms, pack their bags, and prepare for school themselves. This builds independence and ensures they’re ready to succeed.
Communicate Challenges
If transportation, family responsibilities, or other issues make attendance difficult, let us know. We’re here to help connect you with resources and support.
Celebrate Success
Acknowledge and celebrate good attendance! A simple “I’m proud of you for going to school today” reinforces the importance of showing up.
