Working together; succeeding together. Working together; succeeding together.

As Treaty people, we take this moment to honor the lands of Treaties 4 and 6, and all they have provided to us and our families across many generations. These lands have long served as traditional meeting grounds, gathering places, and traveling routes for the Cree, Dene, Nakota, Dakota, Saulteaux, and Ojibway peoples since time immemorial. We also recognize these lands as the homeland of Métis Nation Eastern Region II.

We honor the ancestors whose footsteps have shaped these lands. We acknowledge that our use of these lands has come at a profound cost, including the impacts of colonialism and the residential school system. With this recognition, we commit to working together toward reconciliation and forging a path forward that honors the past and builds a better future for all.

Bike Rodeo

Last Thursday was our annual bike rodeo. As usual there was a lot of fun and a little bit of learning of bicycle skills and safety. It has become one of my favorite traditions at PPCS, especially the annual appearance of Liam N's Ninja Turtle helmet, which he has worn since he started the rodeo in K. Once again, huge thanks to Mrs. Brezinski and her grade 6 class for running the stations, they make the day amazing for the kiddos. Huge shout out as well to Eli J who volunteered to move through t he stations with Conner (one of our grade 2 students). The two of them had a blast, even if the bike did not want to cooperate. Also, thank the PP RCMP for helping out and leading the bike tour around town. Thank you as well to the parents who came by to help out, you were much appreciated. It was hot, but not too sunny. Everyone had a great day.

Applied Engineering Team

This Year the Applied Engineering Team was back in action at the Mini Indy School Go Kart Challenge. The team performed well in Both the electric and gas classes. Their brand-new electric go kart (Grey number 1) placed 4th out of 10 in the electric category. Their Gas kart won the overall championship! We also won the most sportsmanlike award and fast lap award. Come check out our trophies in the school awards case for the next year!

Volunteers of the Month

JR Antazo, Brynlee Smith

This month’s volunteers are JR Antazo and Brynlee Smith. They are responsible for all the cute (or not) little pictures that get taken and hung up on the Bears Athletics board. Their work is strictly volunteer on their own time and only receive the odd glare or scolding when they spell someone’s name wrong so I would like to take an opportunity to recognize them and thank them for their time. The athletics board is one thing that visitors to our school hang around and pay attention to. Thanks for all your work and best of luck to JR who will be graduating in a month.

Athletes of the Month

Logan Bratton

Athlete for the month for May goes to Logan Bratton. If there is a ball being thrown, bounced, a race ran or some sort of jump there is a good chance Logan is doing it or watching it. Logan participates in a wide variety of activities and has finished off his school year with Track and Field. Logan had a good showing at our District Track meet pulling in a couple of top honors in his jumping events. Good job Logan but just an fyi no school sports over summer, I suggest try fishing.

Harleigh Pohl

Harleigh Pohl is hands down this month’s top athlete. She is coming off a strong performance at the North East District track meet where she placed 1st in 100m, 200m, Triple Jump and a 2nd place finish in long. Haleigh’s determination and self motivation level for her track activities is very impressive and her off season training on her own time definitely shows. She was one of the hardest workers at the district meet so it should be no surprise she was one of the most successful by also winning the highest total points award for the Jr Girl category. We wish her luck in the Provincial Finals in Moose Jaw coming up this weekend.

Looking for Volleyball Coaches

Bears Athletics is looking for volleyball coaches for the upcoming season. Please contact the school if your would be interested in helping out.
