Our Yearly Information Review & forms for the 2024-2025 school year is now open in Skyward Family Access. This is something new we are rolling out to keep student information in Skyward up-to-date and to get important yearly forms in your hands.

This process will allow you to review/change your home address, phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, and student health information. It will also give you access to our:

• Transportation Form
• Photo/Video Release Form
• Family/Student Handbooks

Please note: If you are using a mobile device you will want to use a browser, not the App to complete.

We look forward to welcoming back our families on Wednesday, August 21 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for our annual FMS Open House. Our format will be a little different this year and you will be able to move at your pace throughout the evening. You will have the following stops at Open House:

• School Pictures will be taking place in the Auditorium on the stage.
• Chromebooks will be handed out in the FMS Gymnasium.
• Meet Your Teachers - FMS Teachers will be in their classrooms to meet and greet you.
• Tour the school, find your locker, and feel free to test out your combination and get your locker ready for the first day of school.
• Get Involved! There will be different clubs/groups/opportunities for you to explore in the FMS/FHS Cafeteria.

Things to bring with you to the Open House:

• Student Schedule (Available to print on Skyward on Monday, August 19). This will also have your locker number and combination.
• Signed Acceptable Use Policy to receive your Chromebook and Charger. You can do this online ahead of time at this link: FCSD AUP
• Parents and students can opt in to the optional Chromebook insurance plan. The insurance plan will cost $25.00, and will cover replacement for one accidental breaking or damaging of the device during the school year. The insurance plan will cover damage to the device including, but not limited to: broken screens, cracked plastic, inoperability, etc.

Please make sure you and your child read through the AUP and discuss the technology expectations at Freeland Middle School. Your Chromebook will not be given to you until you have turned in the signed agreement. We would like these forms completed by Friday, August 16 at 3 pm.

• Please use our website to find the Daily Announcements, Absent Work, and many other items throughout the school year. We will continue to improve the content that is found on the website each month.

• Please follow Freeland Community School District on Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) for information and fun posts about our students and staff throughout the year. If you are not a social media fan, the same information will be found on our website in the live feed.

• Use Skyward for keeping track of your student’s grades, attendance, etc.

• If you have specific questions about a grade or assignment please feel free to contact the teacher directly. Email is the best method of communication. Emails are also available electronically on the district app/website.

• If you have an overall concern about your student’s academic progress, contact the team of teachers to set up a plan for success with your students. You may also contact the middle school principal, Jennifer Thunberg, at any time with concerns.

• The 8th Grade Team has 1st Hour Prep. Any parent meetings with the entire team will generally be scheduled for the time frame between 7:45 - 8:34 am.

This is the suggested supply list for this school year. Please refer to this when you are doing your back-to-school shopping.

2024-25 Suggested Supply List

• When purchasing clothes for the new school year please be aware of the FMS Dress Code: No spandex, cut offs, jogging shorts, no crop tops, no spaghetti strap tank tops, and shorts/skirts must be an appropriate length. No hoods at any time but hats may be worn during the school day as long as they are school appropriate and allow for staff to see whether or not airpods are in your ears.

• School donations are always appreciated. For the 2024-2025 school year we can always use extra Kleenex, batteries (AAA and AA), disinfecting wipes, glue sticks, #2 pencils, colored pencils, and post-it notes. Drop off supplies to the main office, or your child’s homeroom teacher (4th hour teacher is the homeroom teacher).

• GIRLS 8th GRADE BASKETBALL TRYOUTS* - Monday, August 26 | 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

*All players must be registered at planeths.com, with their physical downloaded on the registration.
