Principal's Message
Dear Trentwood Families,
Wow, spring is really blooming with our SBA testing underway and exciting end-of-year activities just around the corner! If your child is participating in the tests, please ensure they get a good night's sleep beforehand. We've sent home a separate letter detailing everything you need to know for each grade level involved in testing, so be sure to check it out if you haven't already.
Spring time is full of exciting events to celebrate the culmination of a wonderful school year. We will be having a music concerts for grades 3-5, kindergarten graduation, 6th grade promotion, 3rd Trimester Awards Assembly, our annual Tiger Trot, Field Day, several classes are taking field trips, and several smaller PBIS celebrations.
Don't forget to mark your calendars with the upcoming events as they are shared with you, so you don't miss out on all the fun activities planned for May and June!
As the weather starts to warm up, let's kindly remind ourselves and our little ones about our dress code guidelines: no exposed midriffs, underwear, or cleavage, please. And as always, let's keep our clothing choices positive, with nothing promoting drugs, alcohol, or containing profanity. For a refresher on our dress code policy, please refer to the student handbook. If you have any questions about this, feel free to reach out to me anytime.
Thank you all for your unwavering support for our incredible staff and students!
Warm regards,
Dawn Bushyeager

Principal Assistant Message
Dear Trentwood Families,
As April draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the growth and achievements of our students. This month, we'd like to take the opportunity to dig into a topic that holds great promise for our students' academic success: AVID.
AVID, short for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a program aimed at preparing all students for post-secondary opportunities by focusing on essential skills like organization, critical thinking, collaboration, and inquiry. Our school has embraced the AVID program to support your child's academic journey, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools and support to excel in their studies.
As part of the AVID program, your child will engage in activities that promote academic excellence and foster a college-going culture. One of the valuable tools we've introduced is the use of one-pagers. These visual representations of concepts, topics, or lessons encourage students to synthesize information, think critically, and communicate effectively. We are proud to see the creative one-pagers your children have been crafting, depicting their understanding of various subjects and topics.
To enhance cross-grade level consistency in learning, our AVID site team has developed a K-6 rubric specifically for one-pagers. This rubric ensures that regardless of grade level, students are guided in creating one-pagers that meet consistent standards. By aligning our approach to one-pagers across all grade levels, we aim to create a harmonious learning environment where students can build upon their skills from year to year.
Moreover, this year we have introduced various strategies such as interactive notebooks and note-taking techniques to further enhance your child's learning experience. We are committed to continuing to develop these skills next year and are excited to introduce even more engaging AVID strategies to pique students' interest and foster their academic growth.
We are excited about the progress your child is making through the AVID program and the use of one-pagers. If you have any questions about the program or how you can support your child's learning, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
It's a great year to be a "TIGER!"
Sincerely,
Stephanie Clark
