Students should check with their AICE/AP teacher for their testing location and exact start/end times for testing. Please review the “AICE Testing Procedures for Students” slide presentation shared on Schoology to ensure students have the appropriate materials ready to bring to testing and that they do not bring any prohibited items into the testing room. Please encourage your students to get a good night’s rest, eat breakfast and show up on time to their exams.
FCLE Sign Up Information
Students who are dual enrolled and taking POS 2041 American Federal Government this semester, please sign up to take the FCLE (Florida Civic Literacy Exam). Matanzas is offering this assessment on Tuesday April 29 from 8:00am-11:40am. The makeup date for this assessment is Wednesday April 30 from 8:00am-11:40am. The deadline to register to take this assessment at MHS is Monday April 21.
PBIS Carnival Parent Permission
The PBIS Spring Carnival is an annual celebratory event rewarding students who have done the RIGHT things with a chance to do the FUN things. Students who have received ZERO referrals for Quarter 4 (beginning 3/24) will enjoy games, food trucks, music, bounce houses, a silent disco (for the first time at MHS) and other inflatable activities to recognize and encourage a positive school culture. Students will have the opportunity to enjoy a fun and engaging atmosphere while reinforcing the values of respect, responsibility, and integrity. This event will be held at MHS on Friday, May 23rd during the school day and is free of charge to all students.
Parents, please complete the permission form below to give your student permission to participate in this event. Eligibility to participate will be determined the week of the event.

- We are seeking an ESOL Paraprofessional to work with our Russian-speaking English Language Learners to support their academic success. This person must be fluent in both written and spoken Russian and English. Minimum requirement is an Associates Degree (or equivalent) or passing the Paraprofessional certification test.

AICE Testing Begins Next Week!
AICE Testing begins next Friday, April 25th and continues into June. Please review the “AICE Testing Procedures for Students” slide presentation shared on Schoology. Students will be informed by their teachers of their specific classrooms. Please encourage your students to get a good night’s rest, eat breakfast and show up on time to their exams.

- Softball: Our Softball team continues to impress, winning both of their contests this week and improving to an outstanding record of 18-1. We are so proud of our Lady Pirates and their dedication and teamwork!
Season Wrap-Up: Both our Boys Tennis team (9-5) and Girls Flag Football team (10-6) finished their seasons with winning records. Congratulations to our athletes for their hard work and commitment this season!

Free Athletic Physicals and ECG Screening Event
May 21 & 22 at FPCHS
Sign ups are open now for FREE Pre-Participation Physicals and ECG Screenings on Wednesday, May 21st and Thursday, May 22nd at Flagler Palm Coast High School. Pre-participation sports physicals are for any Flagler County student in grades 6-12. Students involved in JROTC, marching band, or other school activities requiring a physical may also participate.

Daytona State College Graduation Information
Dual Enrollment Students - Are you completing your AA degree and need to apply for graduation? Would you like to participate in Daytona State College's graduation ceremony? Apply to graduate through your MyDaytonaState portal!
First day to apply for graduation: January 21, 2025
Commencement book deadline: March 17, 2025
Last day to apply for Spring graduation (DEADLINE) - April 25, 2025
Grad Info Packet Pickup: April 1st - April 30th at the Daytona Campus (packet contains info protected by FERPA laws and will be issued to the student only)
Summer Completers that do not wish to walk in Spring ceremony- Last day to apply: July 31, 2025
Commencement Ceremony: May 13, 2025
Cap, gown, tassel purchase: Visit Daytona State Graduation Shop by Jostens online (Student is responsible for DSC graduation fees and purchase of cap, gown, tassel)

Summer 2025 DSC Dual Enrollment Registration
Summer dual enrollment is only available to returning dual enrollment students, new dual enrollment students may not begin in summer.
Summer 2025 Deadline to Submit Registration form to your School Counselor: April 30th
Fall 2025 DSC Dual Enrollment Registration
April 3 - May 15th: Registration for Fall 2025. To be eligible for enrollment, students must have applied, tested, planned classes with a DSC advisor, and must submit a completed registration form to his or her school counselor by May 15th. The application, testing and advising process is completed directly between the student and Daytona State - for more information or assistance, see below.
Getting Started with Dual Enrollment
If you would like for your child to get started with dual enrollment, visit the Daytona State College Dual Enrollment website to: read through the complete dual enrollment handbook, apply for admissions, sign up for placement testing, orientation and advising sessions through Daytona State. All of these steps must be completed prior to reviewing your registration with your School Counselor.

Did you know that MHS has a representative from Daytona State College on campus regularly to answer student questions about all things DSC? The representative will be in the breezeway outside of the front office during both lunches on the following days and can answer questions about dual enrollment, coursework, admissions and more!

The document below was created by guidance to help families keep track of testing dates and sign up information for the ACT, SAT and CLT.
Do you still need to pass the Algebra 1 or ELA exam? If you have not yet met the English Language Arts (ELA) and Math exam test score requirements for high school graduation, you can also take the ACT, CLT and/or SAT exams to work towards meeting the concordant score needed for graduation.
🎓 Senior Class Information 🎓
Graduation Tickets - April 22nd
On Tuesday morning before school and during both lunches three additional graduation tickets will be distributed in the lower spot. More tickets will be distributed on May 27th during mandatory graduation practice.
Do not buy or sell tickets, but you may give any extras to other families who need them. We are confident that we will have enough tickets for all families to have as many as they should need, if you have tickets that you will not need, we encourage you to return them to one of the Senior Sponsors (Ms. Alred or Ms. Graifer) so that we can distribute them to families who need them.
Military Service Honor Cord Ceremony
If your graduating senior will be joining any branch of the US Military after graduation, you are invited to attend the Flagler Military Service Honor Cord Ceremony on Tuesday, April 29th at 6PM at the VFW post on Old Kings Road N. Students who wish to participate must RSVP at the link below.

Bright Futures Application Reminder
If you have qualified for or will qualify for the Florida Financial Aid Application Scholarships (Bright Futures Awards) you MUST complete your Florida Financial Aid Application BEFORE YOU GRADUATE to receive any potential award money!
Please request the quick guide tutorial from your school counselor if needed (the guide was also supplied to you in the College & Career prep packet).
If you qualify for a scholarship and plan to attend college in Fall 2025, you will NOT receive the award money if this application is not completed BEFORE you graduate.

Senior Graduation Speeches
Deadline Extended to April 23rd
Each year the administration selects several graduates to speak at the graduation ceremony. The purpose of this tradition is to add student voice to the graduation ceremony and to showcase a variety of student experiences from Matanzas High School.
Any graduating senior from the class of 2025 is eligible to submit a speech for consideration. The best speeches showcase the speaker’s unique personality and voice in sharing an inspirational message or story with your graduating peers.
Speeches must be submitted by 3:00PM on Wednesday, April 23rd.
Speeches must be under 500 words in length.
Speeches will be reviewed by administration and students will be notified the week of April 28th if their speech was selected.
Selected speakers must be available for practice sessions between May 5th and May 23rd and are required to attend speech practice at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach on May 21st at 8:30AM (transportation will be provided if needed)
