November 2024

Beard's Bulletin:
It’s hard to believe here we are at Thanksgiving and then Christmas also coming our way at light speed! We have some events coming up you will not want to miss. Be looking for the announcement of “Cookies & Cocoa with Santa” that will be the first part of December sponsored by our amazing PTO. If you are not a part of the PTO, please think about attending the next meeting which we always put out a text about when they get together. Also, our talent show is coming up the first week of December.
I want to give a big shout out to Mrs. Parscale as 3rd Grade students presented the Quest Market Day this past Friday. The Superintendent of CCPS attended as well as many District staff. Students learned about marketing their products and even produced their own commercials.
There are lots of events continually happening on campus. Thanks for all your support!
Tiger Creek Elementary wants to wish everybody a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
The Dish with Mrs. Dills!
November is a month to express thankfulness and one thing that I am thankful for is the opportunity that I have to see so many sweet smiling faces each day at Tiger Creek. We understand that as the months get colder sickness tends to creep into our homes. We want students to stay at home when they are truly sick (fever, vomiting, diarrhea). Because we cannot predict when we will get sick it is important that we make sure to have good attendance on a regular basis. Here are some tips for making good attendance a regular practice:
Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
Lay out clothes and pack lunches the night before.
Develop a backup plan for getting to school if something comes up. Have family members or neighbors on stand by to help out if needed.
Try to schedule doctors appointments during breaks or after school.
If your child does need to miss due to illness, reach out to the teacher to see what they can work on while they are out to prevent learning loss.
Remember being at school on time is just as important as being at school all day.
Once again, I am so thankful for our Tiger Creek family! Tiger Creek is truly a special place full of amazing students and incredible teachers!

The Title I Family Resource Center is a dedicated space in our school for families. Located in room 100, our Family Resource Center is a place for parents to meet and work on school volunteer projects and to obtain helpful information. Title I documents, community events and resources, and the Parent Resource Library are located here. The Resource Library can be used by parents to help their student(s) reach their full potential. We have books and academic materials such as flash cards, Leap Frogs, and learning games that can be checked out by parents to use at home to help improve their reading and math skills. These items can help make learning more fun and exciting. Contact Mrs. Bridges to check something out.
Also, please check out the Family Engagement eLibrary offered by The Parent Institute. It has a wide range of online brochures, booklets and books on academic skills as well as parent topics such as positive behavior, motivation, and more. Most of the items are offered in Spanish as well as English. Click the link below:

Benefits of Volunteering at your Child's School (Why should I volunteer?)
1. Volunteering Makes a Difference in your Child’s Education: Research has shown that children of a school volunteer make better grades and perform better on tests. They’re also better behaved, have better attendance, and are more likely to graduate and continue their education. The more parents participate at school, the more successful their children will be.
2. Volunteering Allows You to Spend More Time with Your Child: Our children spend A LOT of time at school. Becoming a school volunteer gives you the opportunity to share in school-related experiences. It gives you more in common. It also allows you to be a fly on the wall and see your children in a different environment. It’s rewarding to watch them as they put all the skills you’ve taught them into action.
3. Volunteering Helps Create Community: Raising children takes a village. Volunteering at school is a great way to connect with other parents and create a circle of adult friends. Over time, these friends grow to know and love your children. Never underestimate the power of community in raising children.
4. Volunteering Allows You to Get to Know Teachers and Staff: Your child’s teacher and school staff are your teammates in parenting during the school year. They have a tremendous impact on children, both academically and socially. Having a presence at school is a great way to get to know them better and show them your support.
5. Volunteering Makes Schools Better: Schools that have a strong school volunteer base perform better. There are so many demands placed on schools with limited financial resources. Any volunteer effort can help bridge that gap at no additional cost to the school. Taking things off the plate of teachers, administration, and staff frees them up to do what they do best—educate our children.
6. Volunteering is Good for Your Health: Research shows that people who volunteer live longer, have lower stress levels, and are generally healthier. You can’t beat an opportunity that allows you to spend more time with your children AND decreases your stress.
Still wondering, “Why should I volunteer?” If for no other reason than to spend more time with your children, I hope you’ll make the time to be a school volunteer. There are no tasks too small, and every little bit helps to make the school better. And I have a feeling you’ll have a lot of fun along the way.
