Summer Fun and Summer Gains
Summer is certainly a special season, especially for kids. For me, it was long days at the Jersey shore building sandcastles and playing on sand bars for hours, catching fireflies in the backyard during hot summer nights, and plenty of unscheduled time to explore, create, and have fun. We at Wildwood hope all of our students and their families have a fun, memorable summer break.
With summer break just 9 school days away, now is a great time to make a plan to ensure that the academic gains your child made this school year are maintained, and that your child is positioned for success when school begins in August. An easy way to do this is to set aside a small block of time each day for your child to practice reading, writing, and math skills. There are many engaging, age-appropriate resources available to help you with this. Summer bridging activity books like the ones linked HERE are popular choices for many families, and CVUSD will be sending a flyer home in your child's report card on the last day of school that highlights some online options. Of course, daily reading is one of the best ways to help your child build literacy skills that are proven to improve performance across all subjects.
Please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions regarding targeted skills for your child to practice during the summer months.
Warmly,
Mr. Lynch

Make Your Voice Heard - Become a Wildwood DAC Parent Representative
We are currently looking for 5 parents who are willing to serve on our school leadership team (School Site Council) as District Advisory Council (DAC) Representatives. Don't be intimidated by the long, fancy title. Basically, a District Advisory Council representative attends one 2-hour meeting each month with parent representatives from other CVUSD schools and then shares information from those meetings with the SSC team at our 1-hour meeting in the MPR on the last Tuesday of the month at 4:00pm. DAC representatives learn about programs and services available to student groups within and around our school community and then use that information to make recommendations to our Wildwood leadership teams and administration with the aim of ensuring that all students are supported.
Wildwood currently has openings for the following DAC positions on our 2024-25 SSC team:
- (DAC) District Advisory Council Representative
- (DELAC) District English Learners Advisory Council Representative
- (SEDAC) Special Education District Advisory Council Co-Representative
- (GATE-DAC) Gifted and Talented Education District Advisory Council Representative
- (LGBTQ+AC) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning and Others Advisory Council

2024-25 PTA Volunteer Opportunities
Are you looking for ways to be more involved next year? Our PTA would LOVE your help!!! While there are many ways to help, we know of three fundraisers that will need someone to facilitate: Original Works, Food Nights and School Cents. These are both great ways to get involved and don’t require a huge time commitment.
Original Works is an art program that allows parents to purchase their child’s artwork on costume keepsakes. Most of the work can be done from home with a couple stops at school to put things in teacher boxes etc. Teachers do the art in class and you are responsible for getting it organized and working with Original Works (OW) to get it shipped out. The program coordinator from Original Works is super helpful and around to answer any questions. Teachers typically do the art in January and February and we submit it to OW mid-February. Sarah Casey has facilitated this program for years and is ready to train someone new! If you are interested in learning more about please reach out to Sarah at sarahbsheppard@hotmail.com.
School Cents is a program that collaborates with The Oaks in order to generate funds to local K-12 schools. Schools families, staff and other community members submit receipts from The Oaks from Sept 1st- April 30th to earn points for their school. Based on the points earned, our school receives funds from the School Cents program. This is primarily a work from home position. There are 4 pre-scheduled meetings during the school year that takes place at The Oaks. Otherwise, the main goal is to send out communication via newsletter, social media, email blasts regarding submitting receipts and/or current promotions. It will be Jen Charoenrath’s last year at Wildwood and would love to pass it on. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please contact Jen at jent912@gmail.com.
