February 2025
Message from Administration
Dear WBHS Families,
Happy February! I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and school community. These winter months can sometimes feel long, but together we are making great progress toward a successful school year.
We’re excited to host our annual Charity Week February 24-28, followed by our Charity Dance on March 1. This year, our students and staff will be working together to support a number of great causes. Throughout the week, there will be fun events and activities, including spirit days, fundraisers, and a pep rally. See below for some details about this fun-filled week. A full schedule of events will be shared soon!
As we settle into the second semester, this is a great time for students to reset, refocus, and set new goals. We are committed to providing a supportive and engaging environment to help every student succeed. If you have any concerns or questions about your student’s progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teachers or counselors.
Please mark your calendars for our next staff professional development day on February 17. There will be no school for students that day, but our staff will be hard at work focusing on professional growth and student success. Additionally, we have our spring conferences a little earlier this year, so please note that conferences are February 27 from 4:00-7:30 p.m.
Thank you again for being part of our West Bend High School family. Together, we can make February a fantastic month for everyone in our school community. As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Potter
WBHS Executive Principal

Counseling Office Updates
National School Counseling Week
National School Counseling Week 2025, “School Counseling: Helping Students Thrive,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 3–7, 2025, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
School counselors are known for being actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; for working in a partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career and social/emotional development; and working with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves. School counselors are certified, experienced educators with a master’s degree in school counseling. The combination of their training and experience makes them an integral part of the total educational program.

Course Selection
Course Selection for the 2024-2025 school year ends on Friday, February 7th. Please ensure your student has selected their courses for next year. Please review the course selection materials and if you have questions about which courses your student should take, please work with their school counselor, IEP coordinator and/or teachers.
Summer School for both credit recovery and credit advancement is available. Signups for those courses will begin Mid-March via the Family Skyward Portal. Please review the summer school website for further information. Counselors and IEP coordinators will send information home if credit recovery is recommended for your student.
