Health Office Updates
Dear Werner Parent/Guardian, School Year 2025-2026
Here are some health office reminders for the fall:
Immunizations
You must bring us your child’s updated immunization record to Werner in August. You can also fax it to (970) 488-5552 or email it to the School Nurse & Health Tech. Colorado law (Board of Health rule 6 CCR 1009‐2) requires all students attending Colorado schools and licensed childcares to be vaccinated against certain diseases, unless an exemption is filed.
Exemptions
*Medical exemptions only need to be submitted one time on the current form.
* If a non-medical exemption is selected, it must be submitted annually for students K-12 after July 1st.
*Options for submitting medical and non-medical and non-medical exemptions can be found at www.colorado.gov/vaccineexemption.
Health concerns
Your child is unique. Please give us the details that will help us be of assistance to your child at
school. If he/she has a health concern, contact your school nurse or health technician.
Information you provide will be reviewed by the school nurse and a Health Care Plan may be
developed.
Medication at School
All medications given at school, whether doctor prescribed or over the counter, must be accompanied by the medication authorization form and signed by a parent and physician. Medications must be provided and brought to school by a parent, in the original prescription bottle or over the counter container. Pharmacists may provide you with two bottles if you ask them to label one for school use. If there are medication changes or medication is discontinued during the school year, please have your child’s doctor fax us the new or correct orders. The authorization for medication administration MUST BE COMPLETED YEARLY and health care plans updated annually.
Thank you and have a fun & safe summer!

Future Kindergarten Families
Dear Kindergarten Parents,
The beginning of the school year is right around the corner! We hope that you and your child is as excited about the upcoming year as we are!
The kindergarten team at Werner sets aside a few days before school begins to assess all the incoming kindergarten students. It’s important for us to get some baseline information on each child so that we can begin planning our instruction based on student needs. Class lists will be created after these assessments. The class lists will be posted on ParentVUE at 3:00 on August 12th.
With this in mind, we will be doing assessments on August 5, 6, and 7. We have created a Sign-up Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B44AAA928A7F49-kindergarten#
You may need to copy and paste this link. If it does not work, please let us know!
If you cannot bring your child on these days, please email us as soon as possible.
We also wanted to let you know that kindergarten has a staggered start for the beginning of the school year.
- August 13: Kindergarten will have a welcome to school celebration. Students will come with their parents for an hour to explore the classroom and meet their teacher. Students will drop off supplies at this time. We will send you times in August.
- August 14: Only kindergarteners whose last names begin with A-L will come to school for a full day.
- August 15: Only kindergarteners whose last names begin with M-Z will come to school for the full day.
- August 18: All kindergarten students will come to school for the full day.
We will send out more information in August regarding any other important information. Updated information and links will also be on our Werner Website.
Thank you so much! We look forward to working with each of you!

The Werner Kindergarten Team
Future 1st Grade Families
Dear First Grade Families,
We are so excited to meet you and our new first graders! The start of the school year is just around the corner, and we wanted to get a few dates and times on your August calendars.
The First-Grade Team would like to give our students a first peek into their first-grade classrooms. This also gives us the opportunity to meet with our new students in a more relaxed and focused way.
Our First Grade Sneak Peek will occur on Wednesday, August 13th. You will attend a session based upon your last name. Please see the times below.
A-G: 8:00 - 8:45
H-M: 9:00 – 9:45
N-Z: 10:00 – 10:45
You and your child will be able to meet their teacher and a few of the other students in their class, as well as take a tour of their classroom and get their supplies put away.
Please bring in and drop off school supplies at these times as well. If you placed an order with the school for supplies these will be delivered right to the classroom. There will be a supply drop off/meet the teacher time for the whole school later this afternoon. You are welcome to come back and say hello to us at that time or drop off supplies if you are unable to attend the First Peek time in the morning.
We do not know class placements currently. Communication will be sent the week before our meetings to let you know who your child’s teacher will be.
We are looking forward to meeting all of you and starting a fabulous year in first grade!

NEWS FROM THE COMMUNITY
SUMMER ADVENTURE AT POUDRE LIBRARIES KEEPS KIDS AND FAMILIES READING AND EXPLORING!
Hey parents and caregivers! We know that you support your child’s learning in every way possible. Poudre Libraries are here to support you! The library will promote reading, learning, and family fun through our free SUMMER ADVENTURE.
ADVENTURE ON!
The free, all-ages Summer Adventure encourages curiosity, and provides exciting opportunities to learn, play, and read together. Studies show that children who read or are read to during the summer more effectively retain the learning progress they worked so hard to achieve during the school year. Over the summer, it’s important for kids to build a consistent reading routine, explore the world around them, and have fun. That’s why we have created a Bingo Board of activities that are fun to complete AND help kids practice reading, science, technology, art, math, and health.
To accompany them on their adventure, kids and teens get a free book of their choice to keep just for signing up for the challenge! Upon completing at least one Bingo, kids and teens can pick a second book.
Families can track their progress through Summer Adventure digitally or on paper. To participate digitally, download the Beanstack Tracker app from the Apple or Google Play store or visit our Beanstack website at PoudreLibraries.beanstack.org. The website is available in multiple languages with the Google Translate button at the bottom right of the screen. To participate on paper, pick up a printed Bingo Board from any library location starting May 1 (available in English and Spanish).
Save the Dates
May 1 – Pre-registration opens on the Beanstack app and online at PoudreLibraries.beanstack.org
May 27 – The SUMMER ADVENTURE begins! Sign up and collect your free book from any library location (while supplies last).
June 1 - Programs and events start. Join us for energetic storytimes, interactive performances, and hands-on explorations!
Keep in mind: Summer Adventure is not just for kids! Research shows that kids benefit when adults model reading and learning, too. That’s why the adventure is for the whole family -- kids, teens, and grown-ups! Read and complete activities together, then count it on everyone’s Bingo board.
Gear up for a summer of adventure! See you at Poudre Libraries!
