RES Mission: Learning, Loving and Growing Together
RES Vision: Equipping Everyone for Excellence
Happy October! We’ve had a wonderful start to the school year, and it’s hard to believe that fall is already upon us. I want to take a moment to express my appreciation for the dedication and hard work shown by our students, staff, and families. Together, we are making this school year a success, one day at a time.
October is filled with exciting events and opportunities for our students to grow, learn, and engage. From our PBIS Fall Carnival, Fall Break, and Red Ribbon Dress Up Week, this month provides a great chance for reflection, connection, and celebration.
As we move into cooler weather and the holiday season, let’s continue to focus on kindness, respect, and a strong sense of community. We have an amazing school family here at Ringgold Elementary, and I’m so grateful to be part of it. Let’s make this October a fantastic month for everyone!
Thank you for your continued support, and as always, if you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Upcoming Events
Spirit Night at RHS Football Game
Friday night, October 4th, is Ringgold Elementary and Primary Spirit Night at the Ringgold High School football game! RES and RPS students get in free! Students line up at the field house entrance outside of the football helmet at 7:10 pm. Please have your students wear a school shirt! We hope to see all our students there!
PBIS Fall Carnival
The 1st 9 weeks PBIS Event is October 11th
Students will earn their way to the PBIS Event by...
- Making all A's, B's, or C's during the 1st 9 weeks
- No more than 3 unexcused absences
- No office discipline referrals
**Friendly reminder parents: The PBIS Fall Carnival is a rewards based event. We strive for every child to be at this event, but it is an earned "bonus" event for the students. If your child does not meet the requirements for the event, there is no consequence within our school for them. They simply go about their day of loving, learning, and growing together.
We need parent volunteers to help with this event! We will send out a link to a Sign Up Genius soon!

School-Family Compacts
We have completed the process of creating our School-Family Compacts for the year. This is an agreement between the school staff, families, and students that outlines how we will all work together to help our students be successful this school year! You will receive a copy of the Compact along with a cover sheet in your student's take-home folder this week. Please sign the cover sheet, and return it to school. Keep the Compact at home!

New Georgia Literacy Laws
As part of a statewide initiative to enhance literacy rates among students, Georgia has implemented new literacy laws aimed at ensuring that all children achieve reading proficiency by the end of third grade. These laws emphasize early intervention, targeted support, and the use of evidence-based instructional methods. Our district is committed to these standards and will provide the necessary resources to help every child succeed.
Introduction to Benchmark Advance
To support these initiatives, we have adopted the Benchmark Advance program, a comprehensive literacy curriculum designed for students in grades K-5. This program focuses on developing strong reading and writing skills through engaging, diverse texts. Key features of Benchmark Advance include:
- Evidence-Based Instruction: The curriculum is rooted in research and aligns with the new literacy laws, ensuring our teaching practices are effective.
- Balanced Literacy Approach: Students will receive instruction in phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing, allowing for a well-rounded literacy experience.
- Differentiated Learning: The program offers resources and activities tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students, ensuring that every child can thrive.
How You Can Support Your Child
We encourage you to take an active role in your child's literacy journey. Here are some ways you can help at home:
- Read Together: Spend time reading with your child daily. Ask questions about the story to enhance comprehension.
- Encourage Writing: Provide opportunities for your child to write, whether through journaling, storytelling, or letters.
- Stay Informed: Use Parent Portal and Dojo to be aware of your child's progress and communicate with your child's teacher. Be sure to look over Tuesday Folder papers.
We are excited about these changes and believe that with your support, we can help our students become confident, capable readers and writers. If you have any questions or would like more information about the Benchmark Advance program or the new literacy laws, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support in your child’s education!
