Spring Renewal: Partnering for Student Success
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As spring arrives, it brings a spirit of renewal—a time for reflection, recommitment, and growth. This season is also a key transitional period in the school year, where students have the opportunity to refocus on their goals and values. We invite you to partner with us in encouraging your child to recommit to our SOAR expectations: Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect.
Now is the perfect time for students to not only strengthen these values but also seek opportunities for growth and maturity through healthy activities that support their well-being and development. Whether through academic challenges, extracurricular involvement, or community engagement, students can continue to build the skills and character that will serve them well in the future.
We also encourage you to have meaningful conversations with your student about their future aspirations. These discussions can help students gain a greater sense of self and begin looking ahead to the possibilities beyond middle and high school. By exploring their interests, strengths, and dreams, they can start shaping a vision for the path they may want to pursue.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we can help our students soar to success—this spring and beyond!
Thank you,
Laura Wellington
Principal

Welcome to March Hawks!
As we transition into the month of March, our commitment to Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect (SOAR) remains strong. Safety First: Monthly Emergency Drill Reminders
Safety is paramount at Heatherwood Middle School, and we are committed to ensuring a secure learning environment for all. Throughout the school year, we will provide monthly reminders for emergency drill procedures. It's essential for all students and staff to familiarize themselves with these protocols and respond calmly and effectively during drills and actual emergencies. Let's continue to prioritize safety in our classrooms, hallways, and common areas.
Multicultural Night 2025!
Heatherwood Middle School is looking forward to hosting our annual Multicultural Night on Thursday, April 3rd! We are excited to partner with our families for a night of entertainment and food representing all cultures from our campus community. We are actively planning this night in conjunction with our parents from Natural Leaders.
If you are interested in helping plan, and/or if you would like to participate by sharing a dance, activity, or food item please contact Chris Doll, Assistant Principal, through emailing cdoll2@everettsd.org.

Counselor's Corner
March into Planning: 2025-26 School Year Pre-Registration Begins!
Happy March, Heatherwood Families!
Spring is just around the corner, and with it comes as a crucial step in preparing for the next school year: Pre-registration! This month, we'll be providing students with all the information and materials they need to select their courses for the 2025-26 academic year.
Why do we start so early? This proactive approach allows us to accurately assess student interest in various subject areas, determine staffing needs, and begin building a comprehensive master schedule. To ensure we can create the best possible learning environment for our students, we need firm commitments from each student regarding their course selections. Below, you'll find important dates and details specific to each grade level. Please take a moment to review this information and mark your calendars.
Important Pre-Registration Information:
- Pre-Reg Information Hub: We encourage you to visit the Heatherwood Counseling Website. You'll find a dedicated tab for each grade level, with up-to-date information, frequently asked questions, and valuable resources. This website is your go-to source for all things pre-registration.
- School Counselor Support: We are available to answer student-specific questions. Please understand that due to the high volume of inquiries during this busy period, response times may take longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
- Course Selection Importance: Accurate course selection is vital for creating a balanced and effective master schedule. It's important to discuss course selections carefully with your student, as their choices directly impact the availability of classes and resources. Student selections, made in collaboration with parents, will be entered into the Home Access Center (HAC). Please note that these selections are used to build the master schedule, and changes can not be made after they have been entered into HAC.
Key Reminders:
- Please take the time to review the course selection materials with your child.
- Encourage your child to carefully consider their interests and academic goals.
- Visit the Heatherwood Counseling Website for the most up-to-date information.
- Communicate with your child's counselor with any specific concerns.
We are excited to partner with you and your students as we plan for a successful 2025-26 school year!
