PTA
Carl Ben Eielson Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
What is the PTA?
The Carl Ben Eielson Parent Teacher Association is just that - parents and teachers who care about the educational success of the students at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School and help promote family engagement in school activities. It doesn’t even have to stop there! Grandparents, aunts and uncles, and family friends are also welcome to join and participate. Your involvement can be what you wish you will never be pressured into volunteering unless you are open to it.
What does the PTA do?
In addition to being an advocate for CBE students and teachers, the PTA also provides additional support throughout the school year. Last year the PTA provided:
· Dippin' Dots at back-to-school night
· Smart Talk Internet Safety night with Special Agent Smith
· Teacher meals during fall and spring conferences
· Treats for the teachers in December, right before winter break
· Support for teacher appreciation week to spoil our teachers, staff and administration
· Brought in Hope Inc, which allowed all students to participate in an inclusion activity
· Spring picnic for all CBE students, teachers and staff
When and where does PTA meet?
Meetings are held at 7 pm in the school library and take place the first Monday of September, November, January, and March (unless otherwise noted). Our special election meeting for officers for the next school year are held in April.
Why Join PTA?
· Get connected
- Each meeting contains a principal’s report from Mr. Franklin – this is a great opportunity to learn more about what is happening at CBE!
· Networking Opportunities
- PTA functions are a great way to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport, and work together on building our community.
· Watch yourself grow
- By volunteering with the CBE PTA, you can put your talents and experience to use and provide feedback, offer suggestions, and make a difference.
· Be a role model
- Being involved in the PTA demonstrates to your child the importance you place on their education and what is happening in their school.
Committee Involvement
We have several committee’s that are still looking for chairs and co-chairs. Here are the committees we have left that need a volunteer to lead them. Grab a friend and stop by the PTA booth at back-to-school night or reach out to the PTA at carlbenpta@gmail.com
- Teacher appreciation week (work with the board, administration and office staff in planning a fun filled week.)
- Concession Stand (work with the current chair for the next school year and take over in the 2025-2026 school year grab a friend or two)
- Reflections (this is a arts program sponsored by the national PTA, where you promote the current theme and work with the art teachers and office staff, the board also helps with promotion)
Stop by the PTA table on back-to-school night and find out more on what CBE PTA does and how your membership dollars can help bring more programming to our children and build community in our school.
To join our PTA and make this school year a success we need your help! Become a member of the PTA today to keep educational and fun events happening at our school. Together we can create a thriving environment for our children to learn and grow. Membership dues or open donations can be paid on MemberHub [fargocbe.memberhub.com] or SchoolPay. MemberHub is encouraged. In SchoolPay, click on the Parent Groups option on the left and select Carl Ben Eielson PTA. Yearly dues are $10 per person or $20 per family.

If your student is experiencing cold virus symptoms or seasonal allergies, please treat at home before coming to school. Per public health policy, we are unable to carry medications for these symptoms. Also, if your child has a temperature of 100 or above or has vomited in the last 24 hours, please keep your student home from school.
- Hours -typically 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

- If you have questions call Nurse Cheri Koch at 446-1721.
Health Information needs to be completed online. Please remember that our school nurse needs permission to administer Ibuprofen, Tums, or Tylenol (Acetaminophen). If you wish this to be an option, please indicate this online.
Emergency Care Plan: If your student has a health issue that will require more than standard first aid care, a special form called the “Emergency Care Plan” will need to be completed by a parent/guardian and signed by the student’s Health Care Provider. These forms will be available at registration from the school nurse and are online as well.
Medication at School: Daily medication and OTC medications: A “Medication Administration” form must be completed by a parent/guardian and signed by the student’s Health Care Provider. Medications brought to school must be in their original containers.
Self-Administration Medications: If a student needs to carry a medication on them while at school a “Medication Self-Administration” form must be completed by a parent/guardian and signed by the student’s Health Care Provider. If a student needs an Asthma inhaler, make sure they have their inhaler with them. The “Medication Self-Administration” form should be brought to school as soon as possible.
Medication forms also need to be renewed each school year. The school nurse will be available at registration and all appropriate paperwork can be obtained at that time. If your student will be seeing their physician prior to registration, all required forms are also available on the Carl Ben Eielson website under “Registration - Medication Forms” or at this link .
IMMUNIZATION REMINDER
This is a reminder that every student entering grade 7 is REQUIRED to receive a Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine and Meningococcal vaccine. To receive optimum disease coverage and ensure school requirements are met prior to entering grade 7, it is recommended your student receive these two vaccinations once they turn 11 years of age. All students in 7th and 8th grade should have one dose of Tdap and Meningococcal recorded on their immunization record before the start of the 2024-25 school year. Please bring a copy of the updated immunization record to the school.
You can reach the nurse at 701-446-1721 or by email: cbmnurse@fargo.k12.nd.us.

School Information
Entrance to the Building During School Hours
Fargo Public Schools use a visitor management system in all of our schools to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and staff. Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and this system will allow us to do so. This system will allow us to better screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools to provide us with a safe environment for our students and staff.
Upon entering the school building, visitors will be asked to present an ID, such as a Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the system. Once entry into the building is approved, the system will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of their visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork.
Student Information
BACKPACKS
Students will be allowed to use backpacks to carry books between school and home, but the backpack must be left in the student’s locker during the school day.
ID CARDS
Students will receive their ID card a couple weeks after school picture days. The card is coded with an identification number for each student. Displaying your ID at all times is not required. Students who purchased a high school season pass will receive an activity pass ID card to get into FPS high school sporting events. Replacement cost for an ID is $5 in the main office. ID cards will be used to pay for student meals/extras, check out books from the library, school parties, for school bus identification as a FPS student, and for season pass to FPS activities if purchased by parent/guardian. The student ID will display an “A” on the card if a $30 fee is paid. Activity pass cards will be available early to allow entrance into sporting events.
LOCKER LOCK
Each student will be provided with a padlock for his/her locker(s). These lockers are for individual use only and may not be shared with another student. Locks have individual combinations and should be kept confidential. If the padlock does not open or close properly, your child should bring it to the office for a replacement. The replacement charge for a lost padlock is $5. Students must use school locks.
Parental/Family Communication
Communicating with parents and families is always our goal at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School.
You may subscribe to CBE News and Daily Announcements on our website by going to “Content E-Alerts” on Carl Ben Eielson’s website. Parents/guardians can sign up to receive alerts about new Daily Announcements, Newsletters, etc., for each school your children attend.
