First Day of School 2024-25
Lauren Hurst named MO Teacher of the Year Finalist
Congratulations to Lauren Hurst on being named a 2025 Missouri Teacher of the Year finalist from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. She was one of only seven finalists state-wide. The finalists, semi-finalists, and Regional Teachers of the Year will be honored during a recognition event on October 21. “There are nearly 70,000 public school educators across our state who work each day to ensure Missouri students receive the best education possible,” said Commissioner of Education Karla Eslinger. The Missouri Teacher of the Year program recognizes the efforts of effective teachers, working tirelessly to provide a high-quality education to their students. We are very proud of Lauren for being a finalist and representing Raytown C-2 so well.

Business Innovation Students Help Market Culinary Events
Southland CAPS Business Innovation students worked in groups to create strategic marketing and social media plans to present to the culinary students. Chef Mike Chrostowski and the culinary students listened to each group's presentation and asked questions before deciding on their preferred marketing plan. This experience gives students real world marketplace experience during high school helping them to be more competitive in the workplace after they graduate.
Mayor Mike McDonough Visits Laurel Hills
Mayor Mike visited Laurel Hills Elementary recently to help reinforce real world learning concepts regarding how math is used in his work at the City of Raytown, MO Government. Thanks Mr. Mayor for helping us provide our students with the keys today, for a successful tomorrow. We appreciate your continued partnership.
Spring Valley Celebrate Fundraiser Success with Silent Disco
Spring Valley held their annual Fun Run Fundraiser for two weeks with a grade level coin battle and a spirit week. Students and staff raise money during these two weeks and we collectively decide on what the money raised will go towards each year. This year, along with our PTA, we chose to use funds to hold a Silent Disco during special class time so that all students could participate and have a dancing, fun time! Way to go Cougars!
