Dear East China Families,

The approved East China Continuity of Learning plan begins on Monday, April 20. Our teachers have been busy creating learning plans that will be different than we are used to but they will be exciting in a new way. We are looking forward to getting started on Monday.

Patience will be the key to success as this process is new for everyone. With a lot of understanding and grace for each other I am looking forward to the exciting things that will happen.

In order for students in grades K-8 to have their Activity Workbooks as soon as possible, we will be offering the opportunity to pick up your child’s workbook. Pick up times will be Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Administration building located at 1585 Meisner Road.

The distribution of the workbooks will be "pick-up-and-go" as the workbooks will be brought out to cars. All social distancing and safety protocols will be followed.

As we move to this different way of providing learning opportunities please be sure to do what works best for you and your family. We are here to provide support in any way that we can.

Mr. David Alley is a Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Detroit, and he is also a East China parent with four children in our school district. Special Agent Alley has created an internet cyber safety video (below) and has also shared an internet safety tips sheet from his department. This information is always important but it is especially important right now as children are accessing the internet more than they would normally. Thank you Mr. Alley for all you do to protect children.

Skylert Notifications

• Skylert enables parents to receive notifications concerning your child(ren) such as school emergencies, attendance, low food service account balances, school delays and closings
• Parents have control over which notifications to receive and how you would like to receive them
• Skylert can be found by logging into your Skyward account. Once logged in, go to the menu on the left and click on the Skylert tab. Update contact information and add preferences to receive notifications.

Unfortunately, due to the mandatory school closure, our Kindergarten/Young Fives Roundup has been postponed indefinitely. We will reschedule if and when we are able.
