Good Evening PTE Families!

Only two more weeks of summer before the 2023-2024 school year starts. We always love hearing about the kids activities while they were gone. Did you have some quality family time, go on an amazing vacation, make some memories, or have some fun close to home? No matter what you did, I hope your summer has been perfect!

With the count down for back to school started, I wanted to check in and give you some important information and dates for you to plan for.

I also wanted to take a moment to share how much we love being a part of you and your children's lives. Building relationships is at the center of what we do. We have to capture our students' hearts, so we can inspire their minds.

Our theme for the year is "TEAM Prairie Trail." Teamwork is essential in creating a positive school culture. We believe in collaboration among staff members, parents, and community partners to ensure that our students receive a well-rounded education. By working together as a TEAM we can address any challenges that may arise and celebrate our successes.

I am excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to partnering with you in your child's education. Together, let us be the ones who inspire our students, build strong relationships with them, and foster teamwork within our school community.

Back to School Forms are now available for returning families to fill out!

An email from LISD Communications went out today, Tuesday, July 25 with all the information you need.

Each year, families must complete back to school forms that include permissions for district technology use, updated health information, acknowledgement of the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct, and updates to other important information so the district is able to stay in contact with families and support student needs.

These forms are available in the Skyward Family Access account. If a student has multiple families attached to their account, only the Family 1 parent or guardian can access the forms.

This RESOURCE may help with getting to the forms.

Parent Orientation is a time when you hear all about the expectations, curriculum, and schedule from your child's teacher. This is NOT a come and go event like Meet the Teacher.

You will be able to ask questions and get to know a lot more about what is expected for your child's new grade level.

Each grade level will have a separate time so parents will be able to attend each of their children's orientations without conflicting with another presentation.

Summer's winding down and we've got a line-up of super exciting back-to-school events brought to you by the PTA! 🎉📚 Get ready for an exciting start to the school year! Here's a sneak peek at all the fun we have planned:

🗓️ **8/3: FIRST PTA MEETING - 4:30pm** 📚🤝 Gather in the library to kick off the school year with the awesome PTA team. We've got big plans, and we want YOU to be a part of it! Spiritwear and memberships available for purchase at the meeting!

🍧 **8/5: POPSICLES ON THE PLAYGROUND (New families social)** 🍦🤗 Calling all Kinder and New (1st-5th Grade) Families! Come join us for chilly treats and meet fellow new faces.

● New Families: 9:45am - 10:45am.

🖍️ **8/8: CHALK THE SIDEWALK - 9:00am** 🌈🎨 Time to bring out the artist in you! Have a blast and show off your creativity with your fellow Prairie Trail families as we create beautiful chalk masterpieces to help welcome our kiddos back on their first day of school!

🎉 **8/9: TEARS & CHEERS WITH THE PTA!!!** 😄🎈 The big day is finally here! Whether you need a high five or a tissue, we’re here for you! Join us right after drop-off for coffee, pastries & a little celebration or commiseration. ;)

🍦 **8/9: HANDEL’S ICE CREAM SPIRIT NIGHT** 🍨🎉 Let's end the first day on a sweet note! Head on over to Handel’s Ice Cream with the whole family to celebrate the start of a fantastic school year! Be sure to mention Prairie Trail: Handel’s will donate a portion of sales to our PTA.

A few helping hands are needed to assist with PTA membership & spirit wear sales at Popsicles on the Playground (8/5) and Meet the Teacher (8/7). Multiple shifts are available so volunteers can also enjoy these events. Interested in becoming a room rep or volunteering in your child’s classroom? Keep your eyes peeled for this year’s volunteer/room rep survey - coming soon to a newsletter and/or classroom near you! Get a head start by updating your background check on https://lewisvilleisd.voly.org/ so you’ll be ready for all the volunteer fun!

Help us restock the snack pantry and ensure all the kiddos in our school have enough to eat each day. Bring a box of individually wrapped snacks like pretzels, goldfish, or applesauce pouches to any of our upcoming events.

TEA released the below announcement about Spring 2023 STAAR scores reporting timelines in May before school was released. Families will be able to access scores in the Family Portal beginning August 16.

When we get more information, we will share with families as well.
