You Knocked Our Socks Off
Our December winners for the staff You Knocked Our Socks Off award are:
Julie Thompson - Julie is sustaining an remarkable work load this year. She teaches three different classes: Social Sciences 7, English 7, and Communications. That is three different preps in her first year at Harmony. She is also our SCA sponsor. WOW. Great job giving to our community. You can rest this summer!
Richard Hough - We recognize our Head Custodian for his excellent leadership of the custodial team that always keeps our building shiny and in tip-top shape. He is always on top of building management and dates with outside organizations like Parks and Rec, the Elections office, and the church. Staff and parents often comment on how "amazing" our school looks, and we thank him for keeping it looking great!
Kathryn Hicks - We recognize Ms. Hicks for her work in the math and science departments. She is really into data and then adjusting the lessons and working in small groups. Always positive. Always on task.

The Meaning of True Patriotism
An excerp on patriatism from student, Josh Ingold
"Generally people who love their country are also patriots. People who thank the men and women who died for America are patriots too. People who want a better future for America are patriots. Anyone who loves their country is a patriot.
My great-uncle and grandfather both served in the U.S. Air Force and even fought in the Vietnam War. They are my heroes and a few of America's heroes.
In conclusion, patriotism to me means loving your country dearly and being willing to sacrifice privileges for it. I would even consider myself a patriot, as I love my country too.
Patriotism is like the roots of a tree. It allows the tree to stand firm and it provides nutrients for the tree to grow and flourish, without which, it will wither and die."
