A message from the Principal - Mrs. Bookman
Dear Suffield Family,
Embracing the arrival of the fall season, we find ourselves with an array of exciting autumn activities. This weekend promises a variety of family-friendly experiences. We encourage you to check out the multitude of opportunities highlighted in today's newsletter and consider attending one of them. In particular, I look forward to meeting many of you at the Middle School's Falcon Fall Frenzy tomorrow from 4 - 7 pm! Remember costumes are encouraged!

Upcoming 3rd Grade Testing
We want to inform our parents and guardians that our 3rd grade students will be taking the Ohio State Test in ELA - English Language Arts on October 29th and 30th. As we strive to create the best testing environment for our students, we kindly ask that you avoid scheduling any appointments for your child on these dates. Research shows that students perform better when taking the test on the designated testing day, rather than during a make-up session.
We appreciate your support in ensuring our students are well-prepared and ready to perform their best on these important assessments.
Principal's Good News Call
Congratulations to Nate D. for receiving a good news call from Mrs. Bookman! Keep up the good work!

We truly appreciate their support and commitment to making this event a success. Thank you for helping make our Book Fair a memorable experience!

Suffield Trick or Treat Sunday, October 27th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM
Halloween Safety Tips
- Make sure your child’s costume is bright and reflective. It should fit well and be short enough to prevent tripping.
- Ensure costumes, wigs, and accessories carry a label indicating they are flame-resistant.
- Consider painting your child’s face instead of using a mask that can block peripheral vision.
- Feed your family a good meal prior to Halloween parties or trick-or-treating to discourage your kids from filling up on candy.
- If your kids are trick-or-treating in an area without sidewalks, walk on the edge of the road facing traffic.
- For evening trick-or-treating, add reflective tape to costumes and trick-or-treat bags for greater visibility. All kids or their parents should have a flashlight. Glow sticks are also great.
- After trick-or-treating, sort and check your kids’ goodies. Though tampering is rare, closely examine all treats – and throw away any spoiled, unwrapped, or suspicious items.

Substitutes Needed
We are now hiring classified substitute workers for various roles, including Playground Monitors, Educational Aides, Cafeteria Workers, Secretarial Staff, Custodial Staff, Bus Aides, and Bus Drivers. A current BCI & FBI background check is required before applying for any substitute position. Some positions may also require an aide permit, which the Administration Office can help you obtain. You have the flexibility to work the hours that suit you, and you'll be on call to cover for regular employees. For more details or assistance with the application process, please contact Bev Bable at the Administration Office beverly.bable@fieldlocalschools.org.
Birthday Treats
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.
Suffield CARES
