March Edition
It's Reading Month!
Kingston Connected Trivia Night: Thank You!
From all of us at KES, we would like to thank everyone who made our first annual Kingston Connected Trivia Night such a great success. From our sponsors and those in attendance at the event, to our wonderful Kingston Connected members who diligently planned and made it all happen, we are beyond grateful. Our KES staff and students are well taken care of thanks to your efforts and generosity! We look forward to making next year's event an even greater success!
March is Reading Month: Activities Preview
We are excited to celebrate March is Reading Month at KES with a month full of fun events and activities! Here is a list of the fun we have planned:
-Dress Up Days: Please see the attached image of our dress up days calendar for your reference, and get ready to celebrate reading month in style!
-Reading-Themed Assembly: On March 13th, our students will be treated with a reading-themed assembly with Brain Break Academy Magician Cameron Zvara. We look forward to this event and the excitement and love of reading it will bring to our KES kids!
-One School - One Book: This year we are excited to be able to offer each KES family a copy of the same book to read during the Month of March. This year's book, Dragons and Marshmallows, is from the Zoey and Sassafras series. It ties in nicely with our magic-themed reading assembly, and we will have crafts, snacks, and even lunch menu items that relate to the book at KES this month. We plan to kick off our One School - One Book event with a kickoff assembly on March 3rd to pass out the books to our students and get everyone excited. We hope families enjoy the opportunity to share a new story with one another this month!
-Guest Readers: Each classroom will be treated with guest readers on different dates throughout the month. Some guests will be high school students, some will be other teachers and staff from around the building, and some will be parents and family members from each classroom. Please continue to be on the lookout for sign-up instructions from your student's teacher if you are interested in coming in to read to your student's classroom.
KES Enrollment Night
As spring draws near, it is time to start planning for our newest flock of Cardinals that will join us next school year. We are excited to welcome the parents of next year's GSRP Preschool, Young 5's and Kindergarten students to our annual KES Enrollment Night on Thursday, Aprill 10th at 6pm in the KES Cafeteria. This is the best opportunity to get students signed up for Kindergarten, as well as any of the early childhood programs that KES has to offer. Please put this date on your calendar and keep an eye out for more information regarding this event to be sent out soon!
Winter Clothing Update
Though spring is near, it is definitely still winter here in MIchigan! Please continue to send your students with all their winter gear so we can ensure they are ready for outdoor recess. We have also noticed that taking winter items to and from school and can be a tricky task, especially for our younger students. Something that has worked well for many of our families is to leave a set of winter clothes at school all week, and keep an extra set at home. If you are able to make this plan work for you family, we encourage you to do so.
