Thank you for your support of our amazing school with 7 different fine arts, sports, and a rigorous academic curriculum preparing our students for success.
Esther F Garrison is Black History and we celebrate her achievements and many others during Black History Month.
Kudos to our incredible theater students who performed Into the Woods, Jr. this weekend! What an amazing production! Kudos to their teachers, Ms. Ali and Mrs. Lanier, and Dr. D who assisted as the Music Director for the production!
Congratulations to Girls and Boys Basketball! They are all headed to the district playoffs!

Daycare drop off and pickup transports have gotten away from signage on their cars. For safety, please ensure that your child's day care is aware that they must have signage on their cars to pick up students. They will need this signage by Monday Feb 9th. We will have some minor changes to dismissal beginning soon due to renovations at the front of the building. Signage is required for day care pickup at the front door. If signage is not provided, students will be sent to their assigned grade level areas and an id check will be needed. Safety over convenience.

Our student highlight section is here. If your student is doing great things in our community, please send me an email to highlight those efforts in our SMORE.
Attendance Matters! Attendance is more than just coming to school. Attendance also means coming to school on time. Students miss valuable seat time when they are constantly late. Set a goal to be here on time so that your children get a great start to their day! They deserve it!
Late pickup ends at 2 pm. Please do not arrive after 2 pm with the expectation of picking up children early. Thank you for your support as we work to safely dismiss students.
Safety is very important to us as scanning and security wands continue throughout the building each morning as we ensure the safety of all gators in the building and across the district. To make things proceed quicker through the scanners, a separate clear or mesh bag for electronics, water bottles and items that set the alarm off can be used. We are working quickly to ensure the safety of each of our gators.
The Word for the week is Summarize. How many times have we asked a question and the answer seems like it takes forever to come. A Summary is a brief statement or account of the main points of something. Ask your students to give you a summary of their day. This is a great skill to hone in the car!
We are Team Garrison with One Goal: Student Achievement! We are “Gator” Ready and "Gator" Proud and we are gators who will know the importance of summarizing information for understanding! Enjoy the SMORE!

Congratulations Theatre!
Congratulations to the 5th - 8th grade Theatre majors on their incredible performance of Into the Woods, Jr. over the weekend! What an amazing display of talent as they took on one of the most challenging musicals by composer Stephen Sondheim. Many audience goers commented that it was "the best production they have seen thus far" and "I can't believe those are middle schoolers"!
Kudos also to Mrs. Lanier and Ms. Ali for their direction and Dr. D who was the Musical Director for the production. All 3 ladies did a fantastic job leading our students and encouraging their creativity.

COVID UPDATES
Assistant Principal's Corner
Please remember not to block the entrance/exit to the Blake Apartments on Cohen St during arrival and dismissal. Pack your patience for Arrival and Dismissal. Don't forget to use turn signals. Please do not hold your phones to talk on them in the arrival and dismissal lines (it could make all the difference). Please stay in line during arrival and dismissal. We cannot block the oncoming lanes while we wait for gates to open or cars to pull forward. We are glad you are here!
Please try to get students to school on time. There is something to be said for getting students to school before class starts. They can get settled in, they can eat a breakfast, they can work on assignments that need to be completed, they can wrap their minds around the activities of the day, and they may even be able to spend several minutes working with the teacher, which might make all the difference. Getting to school late means students have to try to catch up and get going, which means they may be missing lesson material that is vital.
For those who watch the skies, the Moon will cross in front of Mars, causing an occultation, which will be visible from Canada, Russia, and China. On Feb. 9th, the Moon will look like it is close to Mars, and the stars Castor and Pollux. Happy viewing!!
Our teachers work very hard at arrival and dismissal, often in weather that is extreme. Thank you for your efforts to try to help all arrive and dismiss safely.
We are proud of our Gator Athletes. Woot! The Gator Girls and Boys basketball teams both made the playoffs. Go Gators!
Have a great school year.
Dan Ailes
