Principal's Greeting
Dear Hiteon Community,
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Janet Maza, and I am both humbled and honored to be the new principal of Hiteon Elementary, beginning July 1, 2022. I couldn’t be more pleased to be a part of such an outstanding school and an outstanding school community.
As some of you may know, I have roots in the Hiteon community. After teaching 3rd-5th grade at two other elementary schools, I worked at Hiteon as a Literacy Coach and RTI specialist for seven years. I’ve also had the privilege of working as a reading teacher at Conestoga, assistant principal at Stoller Middle School, and finally, Principal at Bonny Slope for eight years.
Just a little about me personally. I grew up in Pendleton, and graduated with my teaching degree from OSU. Currently, I live in Tigard with my husband, and together we have raised four children. Much of my time at home is spent with my energetic granddaughter, who is about to start her own school journey. One unique thing about me is that I have a twin sister Joyce. Joyce volunteered for 10 years in the EGC at Hiteon. If you think you’ve seen me outside of school, and I give you a blank stare, chances are you have just met my identical twin sister.
My goal is to ensure that all students at Hiteon feel equally supported and encouraged, in addition to our district goal of preparing students for post-high school success.
I would love to meet you this summer and learn more about the Hiteon community. I have an open-door policy and have set aside Wednesdays (except July 13) from 9:30-2:30 to meet both staff and families. If you would like to meet privately, please email me at janet_maza@beaverton.k12.or.us, and we will make sure a time that works best for you to meet is scheduled.
In the meantime, I would love to learn more about your experiences at Hiteon. Please take a couple of minutes to fill out this one question google form to share what you love and wish for our school. The form can be found here.
I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and celebrating the richness that the Hiteon community brings to school every day.
Janet Maza
