Around the School Spotlight
There are a lot of really great things happening around Hawks View! Since most of you don’t get to observe the day in and day out work that goes on here, I have asked members of our Leadership Team to share a glimpse into their world with you. Throughout the year in these newsletters, you’ll hear from myself, along with our Counselor, Instructional Coach, Dean of Students and Multilingual Specialist.
We will continue to share some pictures and also some of the work that is being done here; from the perspective of each different role. If you have any questions from what you read, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
We enjoyed seeing so many of you at our Back to School Night last night. A big thank you goes to Journey Church for donating, cooking and serving almost 550 dinners! We always love connecting with families in a fun atmosphere and giving students an opportunity to show off some of the work they’ve been doing.
We had a GREAT Fun Run today! A huge thank you to Mr. Pulfrey, Mr. Gregory and our PAC for all of their efforts to make an event like this happen. We look forward to adding up the donations and sharing the final total!

Mileage Club
We were excited to kick off the Hawks View Mileage Club this week! Every fair weather Wednesday, all 1st - 5th grade students will head to the track to participate in the Mileage Club during their scheduled PE time. Each student has their own personalized badge to track each lap they complete whether walking or running, (kinders will also walk or run the track for a few minutes on Wednesdays, but we are not tracking their distances). Mileage Club distance accrues over time and over their years at HV. It will be really fun to track how many miles we run as a school this year, and how many miles individual kids are able to complete over time. Just after the first day alone, with each class getting about 18 minutes of running/walking time in, Hawks View students ran a total of 315 miles! Grade 5 traveled the furthest with a total distance of 77.5 miles. Grade 4 was next with 76.5 miles. Our leading class in the school was Mr. McCuskers class with an average distance of 1.18 miles per student. Mrs. Knapp’s class was right on their heels with an average distance of 1.05 miles per student. What a great start we are off to! Thank you for helping to set them up for success in this program by having your kiddo wear tennis shoes and eat a good breakfast on Wednesdays! Go Hawks!
