Granger Gazette
Expect More, Achieve More
May 6, 2024
Griffins,
We have an important week of testing. 7th and 8th graders, you are testing in your Math classes. Please do your best and take your time. Sometimes I panic when I look over the test immediately and start to think that I don't understand it. I have to take a deep breath and just take it, one problem at a time.
You've made me proud all year! You'll do it again.
9th Grade AP students, you have this in the bag!! I'm so proud of you for taking the AP Human Geography class. That already puts you ahead of others. Now you have the test to see if you get college credit. If you do, great! If you don't, that's okay, too. You still get the advantage of having taken the class. Just do you best. Take your time. You've got this!!
Best of luck,
Ms. Wong

Promotion is at 3:00pm at Sweetwater High School in their Football Stadium.
- All students attending teh ceremony will be allowed up to 6 guests.
- Students are to arrive by 2:00pm.
- Students are to be dropped off at the Entrance to the Old Gym on 30th Street for pre-ceremony preparations. Guests may proceed to the football stadium.

Cell Phone Policy
We want to remind everyone that, in accordance with California Ed Code, Section 48901.5, schools regulate the possession and use of cell phones while students are on campus or attending school events.
We understand that cell phones have become a way of life. However, in the school environment, cell phones have become a distraction. Research, such as this one from Harvard Harvard Study: Technology and Student Distraction, supports that learning is impaired when students have a cell phone.
Granger students are NOT permitted to have cell phones at school. A student violates this policy if a cell phone rings or is seen by staff members during any point of the school day including lunch or passing period.
If seen, staff members will confiscate and turn into the administration. Cell phones will ONLY be returned to parents and guardians after school. If a student violates the cell phone policy, this will result in a parent conference.
CAASPP Testing - May 6-17
Griffins, this week is state testing. These assessments are important as they are great indicators of student growth this year. We are asking families to please schedule appointments outside of this testing window so that we have all of our students in attendance during this very important week.
Tutoring: Monday - Thursday
Tutoring takes place each Monday - Thursday.
Students just have to:
- Check-in by the cafeteria.
- Get a snack if they choose and use the restrooms.
- Gather in the Freshman lawn
- The tutoring teacher will call out for students wanting tutoring and take you to a classroom.
This takes no more than 15 minutes.
After the next progress report, we will identify students who are at risk and send home messages and call slips to ensure the sense of urgency.
If you are in joining the tutoring team, please contact Ms. Cabe or Mr. Garcia.
