Math Night Next Thursday!
Veterans Day Assembly Next Week
This year, we will not have school on November 11th to observe Veterans Day. We will have a brief assembly on the 8th explaining what that day is about to students. If your family has connections to Veterans, consider filling out a Veteran Sheet (linked below) to discuss how that person is important to your family, and we will hang the poster in the gym so students can make those connections. You can make as many of these as you like! Please send completed sheets to school by Wednesday, November 6th.
Carnival Many Thanks & Survey
Thank you to everyone who attended the annual Carnival, and a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out! You went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. The event wouldn't have been such a success without your help.
And we want to make the event even better next year. Please take a few minutes to answer our brief, 6 question survey on your experience at the carnival (if you didn't attend, please still take the survey, we would like your feedback as well).

Snacks- Please Help!
We make some basic snacks available to students that don't have one in the office. The demand for snacks has grown exponentially this year. If you are able to pack a snack or two in your child's bag each day, please do! We are very active here at school and our student's brains need fuel for all that learning. If you are able to purchase any extra snacks to donate to the school, that would help our budget and our students tremendously. Please consider donating some healthy snacks if you are able. Thank you for all that you do to support our students!
Site Council- Parent Representatives Needed!
We are in need of two parent representatives to our school Site Council. The Site Council is a group of educators and parents that meet monthly to plan for, discuss, and monitor improvement to our school. This group helps create and implement our school's annual improvement plan. Parents are always welcome to attend meetings, but we really need two who can attend meetings regularly. Meetings occur the third Tuesday of the month in the principals office. Please contact christine.mccollom@ashland.k12.or.us if you are interested or would like more information.
Volunteering at School
How To Become a Volunteer:
Step 1:
Complete the Volunteer Registration Form, which includes the Notice of Background Check form.
Once completed, please submit the forms and a copy of your driver’s license to the Office Manager of the school where the volunteer position is needed. Forms may also be mailed or faxed to the school office. If no school is specified, forms may be submitted to 885 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520.
Once you have passed your background check, you are cleared to apply to volunteer for any position throughout the school year. No additional background check is necessary, however, it is necessary to repeat this process each school year.
Step 2:
Mark your calendar with the agreed upon days and times. Please note that certain positions require training and a time commitment. Make sure you can fulfill the volunteer commitments before agreeing to the position.
Be prompt and dependable. Call ahead if you are ill or unable to keep your appointed times. When you commit to volunteering, people are depending on you.
