St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 9 | 3 APRIL 2025
"Fill my heart with joy, my mind with peace, and my spirit with energy to embrace each day.
Guide my steps, bless my work, and help me to spread kindness and positivity wherever I go.
With you by my side, I know this week will be filled with purpose and joy. In Jesus' name, I pray.”
Dear Parents and Carers,
Many thanks to Alan Godinho and the other fathers who helped organise the Dad’s Campout. It was a huge success and everyone had a great time, particularly the children. It has become a highlight on the school calendar and there were some great photos of the night.
A reminder that the Edu-Dance concert will be held next week on the top oval. It will begin at 2:15PM sharp. Families are very welcome to attend. Kiss and Drive will be closed in the afternoon.
On Monday we will begin the celebrations for Easter with the students participating in the Easter Hat Parade. We will also be gifting the Easter egg donations to St Vinnies. I would like to thank all the families for donating Easter eggs. It will mean that St Vinnies will be able to provide Easter eggs to many families who might not be able to afford them at Easter time. On Friday our students will participate in the school Passion Play telling the Easter Story led by our Year 6 students.
Congratulations to our interschool cricket team on competing in Tuesday’s interschool competition. Our students acquitted themselves very well in their representation of the school at this event. Many thanks to Mr. Chatt and the staff for organising and supervising.
A reminder that unfortunately animals are not to be brought onto the school grounds as we have a number of students who suffer serious allergies. There is also the safety factor that a dog or cat may bite or scratch as they may be provoked unintentionally. Thank you for your help in this matter.
A reminder that Week 3, (Monday, 12 May) will be a pupil free day for teacher /parent interviews. Booking time slots will be available from Monday, 28 April. Information will be sent out on accessing the booking platform.
A number of students are regularly arriving at school late in the mornings. Please be aware that under the Education Act it is a legal requirement that students arrive at school prior to 8:50am. Thank you to those families who do have their children arrive at school before 8:50am.
God Bless and keep safe.

The drive through will be closed on this afternoon due to the event.
We look forward to a memorable experience.
Please see your classroom teacher if you have any questions.
Passion Play
As part of our Holy Week celebrations the Year 6 classes will present the Passion Play to students in Years 1-5 on Friday, 11 April at 9am in the Church. The Passion Play tells the story of the events of Holy Week which recount the so-called 'passion narratives' in the New Testament Gospels that relate to the suffering, death and burial of Jesus Christ. Thus, Holy Week marks the last week of the Catholic season of Lent – the week leading up to Easter. All parents are welcome to attend.
Kiss and Drive
- Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students with no siblings in other grades may be collected from Kiss & Drive from 2.55 pm.
- Kiss & Drive entry for all other vehicles is from 3.05 pm
- Consider collecting your child from Kiss & Drive slightly later around 3.15 pm to avoid the queue.
Project Compassion
Project Compassion boxes are due back to the office by Friday, 11 April (last day of Term 1). Our works of charity this Lent have the chance to help many of the world’s most vulnerable people and we have partnered with CARITAS this term to help fundraise for this worthwhile cause.
Pastoral Care Group
The St. Columba’s Pastoral Care Group has been running for over 10 years and aims to support our school community by providing confidential, appropriate and timely assistance for families in their time of need.
Whether facing illness, bereavement, financial hardship, or other personal challenges, our mission is to offer care, kindness and practical assistance.
The Pastoral Care Group is able to provide:
1. Meal support to those in need – providing fresh meals as required
2. Pick-ups/drop offs to and from school
3. Canteen vouchers can be arranged to ease the burden of lunches
This Christian example allows our students to witness their parents serving and supporting others in our community.
The Pastoral Care Group has two points of contact:
1. School Office (Amy Venturini / Andrea Creek) 08 6436 9500 (admin@stcolumbassp.wa.edu.au)
2. Louise Valerio 0430 922 184 (louise_valerio@hotmail.com) – Year 3 and Pre-Primary parent
Class Reps usually seek contact with the Pastoral Care Group when a need is identified.
A list is held of volunteers who are willing to assist with this confidential service. When needed, volunteers are contacted by Louise.
CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS!
The Pastoral Care Group relies on the wonderful support of volunteers within our school community. If you would like to be on the volunteer list (to cook a meal or two throughout the year, if needed) – please contact Louise or the School Office.
Your assistance would be very much appreciated!
DOSCA Footy Tipping Competition
Round 3 delivered plenty of action, some cracking games, and a few tipping nightmares already!
Some of you picked the upsets like seasoned pros, while others might want to practice flipping a coin. The WA Derby turned fairly uneventful , but at least one team held onto both the trophy and their captain. Maybe a Freo defeat would’ve been a small price to pay for a new coach—just a personal thought!.
