Bethel the Beautiful
Week of September 16
Open House - Tuesday!
Open House- 5:30-7:00 PM, Tuesday, Sept. 17
We are excited about our annual Open House event at BES!! We will meet in the gym at 5:30 pm, where we will have a short meeting and will be giving away some amazing prizes just for attending, including: the grill shown below (thank you Hometown Hardware), Bethel Bypass passes, and gift cards!
You may park on the car lot or the bus lot of the school. Center Pigeon Fire Department will be helping park cars like they did last year -- we appreciate their help!! We will be having a spaghetti dinner as well. After the short meeting at 5:30, you will either go to your child's class, or you can eat in the cafeteria. Your child's teacher will let you know if they are having the whole class meet at one time, or if it's more like a drop in.
We hope everyone can make it out this coming Tuesday!
Spaghetti Dinner
Our cafeteria ladies will be serving a delicious spaghetti dinner the night of our Open House. You can get the meals to go, or you may eat in the cafeteria. It is not a fundraiser, all funds are for the cost of the food and the workers. We wanted families to have an opportunity to still have a delicious meal on such a busy night! See the flyer below for more information. We hope you will come and eat with us! It's not too late to sign up! Turn in your spaghetti head count form or let your child's teacher know first thing Monday morning so we can make sure enough food is prepared! Thanks!

Title One
FAQs about Title One
What is Title One?
Title One is the Nationβs largest federally funded educational program. It supports schools with a budget that helps with students in poverty areas. Our budget is based on our number of students and the percent we have on free and reduced lunchβ¦all students now have free lunch, but our numbers are based on previous counts, etc.
How does Title One help my child?
Part of the funding that Title One offers is Title One Tutoring services. At Bethel, we are blessed with Title one tutors that are retired teachers, along with former classroom teachers that want to help our students be successful. All of our students have the opportunity to receive additional help in specific areas that they need help with at the time. Some students might attend Title One classes a few weeks, some may need the additional help for much of the year. Some students just need help with a specific skill like multiplication or fluency and once they master that, they no longer receive tutoring services. Our goal is to give your children the support and help they need to be on grade level and to be their best.
How will I know if my child is in a Title One group?
Last week a letter was sent home that explained more about the program. Your teacher will be communicating with you about the need for your child to receive some extra help and they will let you know about the progress being made. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions. I am also happy to talk to you further as well. Thanks for supporting this great program that helps us support your children!
Manna Food Bank Help
If your family would like to receive Manna Food bags this year, please let your child's teacher know, or you can email me at awatson@haywood.k12.nc.us. We would be happy to get you signed up for the program. Please see the permission slips that must be filled out to participate. Your child's teacher will be glad to print you out one and send it home with your child, if you will just let your child's teacher know. Thanks!
Bible Club
Beginning Thursday, September 26
The Haywood County Bible Club is an after school club that is sponsored by community members. All of our elementary schools in Haywood County have an after school club. The BES club will meet after school on Thursdays, beginning on Thursday, September 26th from 3-4pm. Students will meet in the auditorium. Permission slips will be coming home soon with all students in grades 1st-5th. If you have a kindergartener that has an older sibling at BES, then your kindergartener may attend also. All permission slips sent home this week should be turned in to your child's teacher prior to the 26th, or to the Bible Club sponsors on Thursday, September 26th.
