Hays CISD is excited to announce the third annual Hays History Day will be held on January 25, 2025 at LHS. Our district History Day competition is in conjunction with the Texas History Day competition hosted by the Texas State Historical Association and the National History Day organization. History Day's purpose is to equip students with college and career ready skills of collaboration, research, writing, and innovative thinking that come from the study of history and civics. It is a wonderful way to incorporate Social Studies and Reading and Language Arts state standards into innovative projects. The competition is open to students from grades 4 through 12. Students can create seven types of projects either individually or in groups of 2-5 centered around a theme provided by National History Day. National History Day is a non-profit that coordinates History Day competitions for the last fifty years in the United States.

History Day Theme Video 2025 (11 minute video)
Each year, our annual “I Am Texas” theme encourages student contestants to use historical artifacts found in The Bryan Museum as inspiration to express their creativity.
The Take Care of Texas Video Contest is a fun way for young people to learn about protecting the environment and come up with creative ways to share this knowledge with others! Students create a 30-second video that shows positive ways to Take Care of Texas. Contest sponsor Waste Management of Texas, Inc. will award prizes to the creators of the best videos.

Hays High Five
The Hays High Five program is a way for you to salute any Hays CISD employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you're a parent impressed with that special touch your child's teacher added to a moment, or you're a coworker who thinks the campus PEIMS clerk doesn't hear often enough about the great job she is doing - you can send a Hays High Five! Anyone can nominate any Hays CISD employee.
- Supervisors, including the superintendent, will see your Hays High Five
- The employee will get a thank you card and a nominal token of appreciation that lets everyone know he or she was given a Hays High Five
- Campuses may provide added recognition for Hays High Five recipients
- Employees who earn a Hays High Five are automatically entered into nomination for possible selection as the Hays High Five employee of the year
