Principal's Corner
November 26th, 2023
Happy Sunday!
I hope this newsletter finds you warm and well!
2024 has been off to a busy start! We have had lots of visitors scoping out our current school, with the dream and vision of building an amazing new school. I am very excited to be a part of such an exciting project and will continue to provide updates here!
Our teachers and students are wrapping up ARC Unit 2 (nonfiction reading and writing) and moving into Unit 3 which explores various stories through times. Thank you to our fourth grade families who attended the author's celebration Friday!
Students in grades K-2 have completed the middle of the year AMPLIFY Assessment and Mrs. Matthews will be connecting with applicable familes this week.
As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns!
Be well,
Mrs. Lindsey Fulton, Principal

Winter Clothing Reminder
Students have outdoor recess most days so please make sure that they are dressed for the weather and that they have snow gear on days when there is snow on the ground. Layering is helpful for students who prefer light weight clothing while indoors.
Also, conditions are often wet so an extra set of clothing to be kept at school is always helpful.
Wintertime and Head Lice
Winter is a time that we sometimes see cases of head lice at school. Here is some information that may be helpful:
- Lice spread through head-to-head contact. They need a host to survive and do not live on surfaces for long.
- Remind your students to hang their coats, hats, and scarves in their cubbies and not to share these items. They should also be reminded not to share hairbrushes, barrettes, and headbands.
- Posing for selfies with friends is another way lice may travel head-to-head.
- For students with long hair, it is recommended that hair be worn up or in a ponytail or braid.
- Get into the habit of checking your studentβs head for nits or lice, especially if you notice that they are exhibiting behaviors such as scratching or complaining of itchiness.
If you do find any evidence of lice, please know that they do not spread disease and there are effective ways to get rid of the lice. If I suspect your child has lice while they are at school, I will call you to discuss treatment options. Use this link for more information about lice from the CDC website.

Reading Lacrosse Sign-Ups!
Boys & Girls Lacrosse Sign-Ups are open and close on 1/31/24!
Reading Lacrosse Association (RLA) is a recognized 501C non-profit that serves over 400 boys and girls annually.
- We award discounted or free registration and equipment for players in need. If you know of a special circumstance, please send that information to me directly.
- RLA donated AEDs as well as the installation and ongoing maintenance costs for units that are now mounted in weather-proof enclosures outside Parker and RMHS. It is our goal to continue this effort and add more AEDs outside our schools. Just this month there was a cardiac incident at Burbank Ice Arena and having and AED available saved a life.
- 60 lacrosse sticks were purchased and donated for boys & girls to learn about lacrosse through PE at Parker and Coolidge Middle Schools.
- The Reading Scholarship Foundation annually awards a scholarship endowed by RLA.
- We offer volunteer opportunities for RMHS students year-round to work with the youth program.
Reminder if you are interested in participating in the boys or girlsβ lacrosse program registration for the 2024 Spring season is now open. Look for the registration signs around Town and please go to www.readinglacrosse.org to register for a team. No prior lacrosse experience is required!
