Charter Application and Enrollment
Open Enrollment and the charter application for NEW families to Maple Grove Charter School is just around the corner, February 5th- April 30th, 2024. Families with learners that are currently attending Maple Grove Charter School DO NOT have to fill out the application again and if you are not part of the School District of Athens but have already open enrolled you do not have to fill out the forms again.
The application (will come out February 5th via SeeSaw, Campus, and our Website) is only for NEW learners at any grade including new kindergarteners. So if you have a child or children already attending here but have a new kindergartener coming, you will need to fill it out for your new kindergartener.
Open enrollment forms from DPI (will be available on the DPI website February 5th) are only for families outside the School District of Athens boundaries and you are new to Maple Grove Charter School.
The MGCS Governance Board has set enrollment guidelines for next year with the building not exceeding 135 learners, and grade levels not to exceed these bands-Kindergarten and 1st grade 21-23, 2nd and 3rd grade 23-25, and currently no cap at 4th and 5th but we currently have 16 and 15 at those grade levels.
The reason I am putting this out here in advance is for you to spread the word and get your friends and neighbors thinking! Word of mouth has been our best marketing tool for our AMAZING school and we want others to know how much you love this school and the education your child(ren) are receiving! I also encourage you to tell them to call the school to schedule a tour, meet with me, or simple just get more information. We will have an open house as well on March 14th.
Many families may not know what Open Enrollment is or the application process can be confusing, but I urge you to ask questions if you or others have them. Thank you for spreading the word about the awesome things we are doing at Maple Grove Charter School!
Polar Express Day!
Thank you to the Artus family for their time and dedication to Maple Grove learners.
THANK YOU!!
A BIG thank you to the PTO for the amazing and customized umbrellas and the new ice maker! These gifts can be used year round and everyone will benefit.
Our staff is lucky to have you!
December Sing-Along
MGCS was lucky enough to have a school wide sing-along with Mr. Smith right before Holiday break! All learners and staff were able to soak in the holiday cheer with traditional songs.
Holiday Concerts!
3rd Grade Trout Presentation
Mrs. Barrick's 3rd grade class presented their trout information (habitat, appearance, food, behavior) to groups of adults and students at MGCS so everyone can better understand our trout in our tank. IMPRESSIVE is an understatement. These learners are informed and did a great job presenting! Keep up the learning 3rd grade!
Fired up to Read
Luckily, we will have the Hamburg and some Corning volunteer firefighters come to read with our leaners every Friday morning! Our volunteers will rotate between classes, and take a every learner to practice reading or be read to. This will start Friday, January 19th pending approval.
Mid-Year Fast Bridge Screener
All grades will be taking their midyear screeners the week of Jan. 16th. Please make sure they get plenty of sleep and a good breakfast or have breakfast here at school those days. This is a screener we take 3 times a year in reading and math to monitor progress and determine where we need to best support our learners. You will receive the results after we complete it and review the data. Thank you for your continued support at home with your child's education!

We continue to support and encourage all students to learn TOGETHER! Every other week learners go to their assigned fox den, which is a culmination of K-5th grade learners intermixed, to create relationships and support each other in teamwork activities.
December Reading Incentive
On December 18th we had our reading incentive for learners who met their November goal. Learners decorated the inside of a shatter proof ornaments and they got to decorate and eat a sugar cookie!
Thank you to families who continue to make reading a priority!!
