Graduating Class of 2024!
Banta Elementary School will celebrate graduation on Wednesday, May 29 at 5:00 PM
Superintendent's Corner
When I was a little girl, my father owned a nursery and florist in my hometown. This was a time before Costco and the grocery stores sold plants and flowers. If you needed a plant or an arrangement, you stopped in at the Spring Yard and saw my Dad.
I remember May as being a time of new beginnings and new starts. Neighbors, friends, and customers would stop in to see the new plants and flowers that they sought to plant in their yard. Hope for a beautiful garden punctuated the conversations, as did friendship, and well wishes for a beautiful spring.
When you bought a plant from my dad, you got so much more than just a plant. Buying a plant was a process that involved discussing the weather, telling a joke or two, catching up on the local gossip, and on a hot May day, drinking a cold diet Pepsi from the cooler. These were the times that we knew our neighbors and we knew our customers, and we treated them like family.
As we move toward summer, and you start to plant flowers in your yard, take the time to stop and talk with your neighbor. Share a Coke or tell a story, and plant those connections that will last far longer than the flowers in your yard.
Parents, thank you for a wonderful year at Banta Elementary. Coming home has made all of the difference for me! I have enjoyed learning your stories and getting to know more about you. I continue to be impressed with your generosity, spirit, and support towards our school. I hope you know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our graduates much luck as they spread their wings towards high school. The staff at Banta are so proud of each and every one of you.
My wish for you as you begin high school would be that you take the time to get to know people. Learn the lunch lady’s name and the custodian's favorite team. Forge relationships, and take advantage of all that high school has to offer. Do something new, try out for a team, and take a risk. Attend the rallies, join the school play, and attend a Friday night football game or dance.
High school is a time for new beginnings, a time to plant for the future, and a time to get to know yourself and those around you. Take the time to enjoy your new school, stand in the shade, and share a cold Coke with a new friend. Much love and luck on your adventure!

The Principal's Playground
As we bid farewell to the Banta School graduating Class of 2024, we eagerly welcome the next generation of Banta School Mustangs. These young scholars, with their backpacks full of dreams and hearts brimming with enthusiasm, step onto the path paved by those who came before them.
The Banta Mustang Spirit is more than a mascot; it’s a timeless legacy filled with tradition. It’s the echo of laughter in the hallways, the camaraderie during recess, and the resilience shown during challenging times. As our new students take their seats, they inherit this spirit—a torch passed from one Banta generation to the next. They’ll wear the blue and white spirit wear with pride, knowing that they are part of something greater.
As you look around you’ll see familiar faces—the parents who once sat in these very classrooms, the grandparents who cheered at school sporting events, and the siblings who looked out for one another on the school playground. Banta School is more than a small rural country school; it’s a tapestry woven with family threads. Our new Mustangs carry the hopes and memories of generations past. They’ll hear stories of their parents’ volleyball games, their aunts and uncles’ soccer championships, and their cousins’ winter programs memories. The walls whisper their family names, connecting them to a lineage that stretches back in time.
Beyond the school grounds lies our small country community—the neighbors who wave as the school bus passes, local businesses that sponsor Hay Day, and the Parent and Community volunteers who organize Picture Day, Book Fairs and fundraisers. Our Mustangs will participate in school plays, attend board meetings, and take part in many community events. Their education extends beyond textbooks—it’s about understanding civic responsibility, empathy, and the power of collective action.
So, dear incoming Mustangs, as you step into these hallowed halls, remember that you are part of a grand narrative. Your laughter will blend with echoes from the past, your achievements will add to the Mustang mural of success, and your friendships will ripple through time. Carry the Banta Mustang Spirit with pride, for you are the architects of the future—a future where the next generation will look back and say, “We, too, were Mustangs.”
With Mustang Pride,
Mrs. Maxie, M. Ed. | Principal

6th Graders It's Time for the Tdap!
Dear Parent/Guardian:
As your student prepares to enter 7th grade in the upcoming school year, it is important that they are up to date on all of their immunizations. As required by the state of California, your child will need to provide proof to the school that they have received their Tdap Booster immunization prior to entry into 7th grade.
If we do not have documentation of this immunization, unfortunately, we cannot place your child on a class list come the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Please note, there have been no extensions granted by the state due to COVID-19, and the TDAP requirement remains in place.
Please provide proof of your child’s Tdap immunization to the school no later than June 1, 2024.

Happy Spring!
This is one of my favorite times of the year! Granted, it is hay fever season which is less than fun, but I love seeing all the plants in bloom. All the green grass and trees, flowers budding, bees buzzing… It is like life itself is reminding us that each day is a fresh new start. It is something I strive to show to each student that everyday is a chance to learn something new. To grow and discover new things.
While state testing may have been tough these past few weeks, the library was a place to rejuvenate and have some fun. We had a week of board games and puzzles, learned some new art styles as kids got to try their hand at pixel art, and also just had some quiet time to read. The younger classes had a blast with the interactive book “Hey Bruce!” It was a month filled with laughter.
Just as a reminder to keep your child reading each day. They love it when we can take the time to read with them and with this lovely weather, maybe even try to go outside for a reading adventure. Curl up under a shady tree and read in the grass. Making it a fun, memorable experience can help your child grow in their reading venture.
Finally a quick but important reminder: BOOK FAIR is coming in just a few weeks so get ready!
