Week of October 6th, 2024
Hey IGA Family!
What an incredible first week back! After facing the challenges brought by the recent hurricane, it has been heartwarming to see our community come together with strength and resilience. We are immensely grateful to our linemen, first responders, city employees, and police officers for their tireless efforts in ensuring our safety, well-being, and restoring vital resources. Their hard work has played a huge role in helping us regain a sense of normalcy, and we ask that you continue to join us in supporting one another as we rebuild. Together, we are stronger!
This week has been filled with memorable moments. Our students have embraced project-based learning, the fine arts, and many other activities that helped bring a positive atmosphere back into our school. We are thrilled to see such excitement and engagement from both students and staff!
We are also excited to share highlights from our very first House Meetings, where both students and staff came together in a spirit of mentorship, relationships, and collaboration. These meetings were a wonderful opportunity to build connections, share ideas, and strategize ways to make a positive impact in our school and community.
During these sessions, students and staff brainstormed meaningful ways to help those in need. The energy in the room was inspiring as everyone came together with a shared goal of supporting others. Whether through acts of service, fundraising initiatives, or simply lending a hand where it’s needed most, our House teams are eager to put these plans into action and make a difference.
Our House system is designed to foster a sense of belonging, leadership, and unity, and it was incredible to see these values in action. Watching our students work alongside staff to create lasting relationships and strategies for community support reminds us of the power we have when we come together.
Please note that our parent-teacher conferences have been postponed and will now take place from October 21st through November 1st. You will receive information from your child’s teacher about how to sign up for a time slot. Additionally, common formative assessments will be administered this week, so please encourage your child to do their best.
For students in Grades 3-8, we are excited to announce that they will be attending the Georgia National Fair on Wednesday, October 9th. Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, October 15th when we return from Fall Break. Please make sure to keep an eye out for more details from your child's teacher about the trip.
As a reminder, Fall Break begins this Thursday, and we look forward to another wonderful week filled with learning and growth before then. Your continued support means the world to us, and we are deeply committed to ensuring your child feels supported, valued, and loved in every step of their journey.
Thank you for all you do, and here's to more incredible moments ahead!
With gratitude,
Mr. Taylor
