🎥 TVUSD Shines at Directing Change PSA Film Competition
About Directing Change
Directing Change is part of Take Action for Mental Health: California’s mental health movement and statewide efforts to prevent suicide, reduce stigma and discrimination related to mental illness, and to promote the mental health and wellness of youth and young adults. Riverside County hosts a local screening and recognition ceremony each year to honor student filmmakers advocating for mental health and suicide prevention awareness.
Riverside County Directing Change Screening & Recognition Ceremony
GOHS
- GOHS students Elizabeth Bujas, Alaura Francis, Nicole Lacey, and Mila Peralta's film "Paint Your Own Picture" placed in the top 3 films for the Mental Health Matters category for the Riverside County Directing Change film competition. They also took 1st in the Mental Health Category at the Riverside County Directing Change Screening and Recognition Ceremony on May 16th. They received a trophy and a $300 individual check from the Rotary Club.
- Elizabeth Bujas, Alaura Francis, Nicole Lacey, and Mila Peralta - "Paint Your Own Picture" also took 2nd place in Region 2 (Riverside County) in the Mental Health Category, earning them a $250 prize.
- Landon Macaspac, Aidan Ebreo, Tyler Bush, and Ethan Landrie Hall - "Like Asking a Question” received an Honorable Mention.
TVHS
Our Golden Bears used their creativity and voice to exemplify one of our Golden Bear values...Awareness. There were two competitions, one California statewide and one for Riverside County. TVHS Media Arts pathway students rocked it! These are some amazing recognitions for our AME students. Here are the results:
California State Directing Change
- Hunter Shelton, Cole Elas, and Chase Scorsone- "Rox" (3rd place- Hope and Justice Statewide category) *They received a $250 prize.
- Callie DuPre, Fiona Quan, and Jackson Dimmick- "Notice the Small Signs" (Honorable Mention-Suicide Prevention category)
- Riley Barnhart, Aceah-Angelica Cortez, and Bailey McIntire-"More Than An Athlete" (Special Recognition-Athlete Mental Health category)
- Jai Turay, Ava Showalter, Scott Meyers -"Social Anxiety, Not a Solo Struggle" (Special Recognition-Educational PSA category)

Congratulations to the TMS Jazz Band 🎼
On Friday, May 10th, the TMS Jazz Band participated in the Riverside City College Jazz Festival. They performed well and received very advanced feedback from the judges/clinician, earning a Superior Rating and taking 1st place in their division!
The following students were also given certificates awarding their outstanding musicianship:

The TVUSD Community High Five Program is designed to empower and encourage the community to acknowledge and appreciate the dedicated employees of the district. This program serves as a platform for parents, students, and local residents, to recognize and celebrate the relentless commitment and hard work put forth by district employees.
Whether it's the passionate educators who shape the future of our children, the diligent administrative staff who keep the educational machinery running smoothly, or the unsung heroes who contribute to the district in various ways, the TVUSD Community High Five Program provides a means to express gratitude and support for their unwavering dedication to the educational well-being of the community. Through this program, TVUSD fosters a sense of unity and appreciation, strengthening the bond between the district and the community it serves.
Fill out this quick form and the Communications Department will create and send a digital certificate to the employee for their hard work. As an added recognition, one employee will be selected each month as a "Community High Five Spotlight" and their shout-out will be recognized in a future edition of the Community Connection.

New Family Enrollment Now Open, First Come First Served
Open enrollment for new families began on May 13, 2024 on a first come, first serve basis. Click here to access the enrollment request link. Please note that we will give Priority Placement to those students requesting the Full Day Class and then to students of District Employees.
Meet the Teacher: 5/22/24
We will have a brief "Meet the Teacher" on May 22, 2024 from 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm. This will be the only time where you will be able to meet our two wonderful Love to Learn teachers and view the classrooms prior to the end of this school year.

BASES/ELOP registration for existing families opened on Wednesday, May 1st. New family enrollment opened on Wednesday, May 8th. Registration is first come, first serve. All families may find more information here:

It is now time to complete your Annual Family Update in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This update is REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS RETURNING TO TVUSD FOR THE 24/25 SCHOOL YEAR.
Any student who does not have a completed Annual Update:
- may not be enrolled in a class for the 24/25 school year
- may not receive a schedule
- and may not be able to participate in school business days in August.
It is imperative that all families complete the Annual Family Update as soon as possible to prevent any delay in your child's enrollment for next school year.
