Pyramid of Success
Coach Wooden believed and taught that the most important responsibility each of us had to ourselves was to do everything we could to achieve our own potential. He offered his Pyramid of Success and his definition of Success as a guide, stepping stones to help young people understand what it really takes to make the effort – 100% – to fulfill their potential and do their best. Every couple of weeks, our students will focus on one or two character traits from Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success. Positive examples of students exemplifying the character traits will be recognized with the Pyramid of Success Awards. Classroom lessons will reinforce elements of the Pyramid of Success. Additionally, whole school assemblies will feature character traits from Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success.
For the next two weeks, we will be focusing on Self control and Determination:
- Self Control: “Discipline yourself so others do not have to do it for you! Be in control of how you behave. Good judgement requires SELF-CONTROL of your feelings. Bad judgement comes from poor SELF-CONTROL. How can you perform at your best when you are using bad judgement?”.
- Determination: Success takes a lot of time and will bring a lot of set-backs. Don’t quit; don’t back down; keep trying time and time again! You may have to start over. Your may have to go around, or over, or under. But, do not quit! Stay the course. Quitters will not succeed because success takes a lot of determination”.
This Week at Adams Elementary
TK and Kinder students at Adams Elementary had the opportunity to visit Centennial Farms this week. Our students had the opportunity to hold chicks, hear about milk production and see various livestock. Thank you to our amazing teachers and parent volunteers for making this happen for our All-Stars!!!
Today, our TK families and students gathered for a memorable Thanksgiving feast that filled our hearts and bellies! It was a joy to see families enjoying a delicious meal with their little ones and celebrating the season of gratitude together. A special highlight of the day was the incredible performance by our TK students, who charmed everyone with their enthusiasm and talent. It was truly a moment to treasure. Thank you to our amazing families for joining us and to our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to make this event a success. Your efforts and support make our Adams Elementary community so special. Happy Thanksgiving to all! 🦃🍂

Pyramid of Success
We are thrilled to recognize our Adams All-Star students for exemplifying the Pyramid of Success character trait: Cooperation! These remarkable students have shown what it truly means to work together to achieve shared goals.
As Coach Wooden said:
"If you wish to be heard, listen. Cooperation means working together in all ways to accomplish the common goal. It also allows individuals to move forward together instead of going off in different directions. Two horses pulling a wagon must move in the same direction or their wagon does not move.”
These students have embraced the spirit of teamwork, showing kindness, respect, and the ability to unite efforts with their peers. Thank you for being an inspiration to your classmates and helping our school community thrive.
Keep shining, All-Stars! 🌟

We are thrilled to recognize the classroom that achieved perfect attendance last week! A big congratulations to Ms. Martinez's class for setting a fantastic example of commitment and teamwork. Your dedication to being at school every day is something to be proud of! Consistent attendance is incredibly important for elementary students. Every school day provides students with opportunities to learn, connect with their classmates, and build foundational skills that set them up for future success. When students attend regularly, they don’t miss out on important lessons, hands-on activities, and valuable classroom discussions. Attendance also fosters a sense of responsibility and helps students feel more connected to their school community. Thank you, Mrs. Martinez's class, for leading the way with your commitment to being here every day. Let’s keep up the great attendance, All-Stars!

Volunteer Information
We are happy to welcome volunteers to our campus. Volunteering is a perfect opportunity to become more familiar with our school and support your child’s teacher.
Adams volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application through the NMUSD website and check in at the office each time through our Raptor System. Please see the link: NMUSD Volunteers. Once your application is approved, you will receive a notification. All cleared volunteers will then complete an orientation at Adams.
Please note that field trip volunteers need to go through the volunteer/visitor system before attending a field trip.
Attendance
Attendance is very important to a child’s success in school. Students are expected to be here each day on time and ready to learn. However, we understand that there are occasions where an absence may occur. Please be sure to contact the absence hotline to report all absences at 714-424-4702.
Did you know? Research shows that chronically absent students (students with 10% absences over the school year = 18 absences) are less likely to read on grade level by 3rd grade, are more likely to score lower on standardized tests, get suspended in middle school, and are at least four times more likely to not complete high school.
Attendance Matters!!!
Safety Protocols
All teachers and Adams staff have been trained on the Standard Response Protocol. This protocol allows everyone on site to use clear and common language during emergency responses. Whenever emergency drills are held at Adams Elementary (dates are all posted on the Adams Elementary website), we will inform our parent community through our weekly newsletter.
