A NOTE FROM THE CAFETERIA

Our annual Thanksgiving Feast will be held on Thursday, November 21. Our cafeteria will serve roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered corn, whole grain split top dinner roll, applesauce, fresh fruit, and cinnamon apple pudding. The second choice will be a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

VETERANS DAY 2024

On November 11, we welcomed veterans and current military members to our school. We are so thankful for these men and women's sacrifice, courage and service. It was our privilege to honor them and to help our students understand the importance of Veterans Day. Strausser Elementary is proud to be a Purple Star school. The Purple Star Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. OUTDOOR RECESS

As a reminder, during the winter months children go outside for recess when the temperature, including windchill, is 15 degrees F or higher. We encourage students to dress appropriately for the weather (warm coats, hats, gloves and boots).

THANKSGIVING BREAK

We will have Thanksgiving Break from Wednesday, November 27 - Monday, December 2. Enjoy your time with your family, and we will see everyone back at school on Tuesday, December 3.

SCHOOL FEES

Student fee invoices for the 2024-2025 year are being sent home with students on Friday, November 1. Fees can be paid by check made out to Jackson Local Schools and sent in with your student, or you may click this link to pay fees online.

ARTSONIA

Our school uses Artsonia, an online student art museum used by millions of student artists around the world, to create digital portfolios of artwork. Using the school code BCFD8PC, you can order keepsakes featuring your student's artwork that should arrive before December 25 if you order before December 10. BREAKFAST AND LUNCH INFORMATION

SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND LUNCH

The USDA is not offering free breakfast and lunch for public education students for the 24-25 school year. If you need monetary assistance with breakfast/lunch, please fill out the free and reduced lunch form. If you have questions about this form, please contact Marsha Escola, Food Service Supervisor, at 330-830-8031. All application information is confidential.

BACKPACK FOOD PROGRAM

Jackson Local Schools Backpack Food Program Info

The Backpack Food Program, a partnership with RiverTree Jackson, is a service we are

pleased to offer to the families of Jackson Local Schools. This program aims to send home a variety of easy, ready-to-eat meals and snacks for your child over the weekend. There are no income requirements for this program. The bags will be delivered to your child’s school, and your child can bring home the bag. Please complete this quick application to apply to be part of the Backpack Food Program.

SMART SOCIAL

The Jackson Local School District believes in partnering with parents and providing them with resources to help navigate the world of technology, games, and social media. While advances in technology have many great rewards, there is also the potential for harm. Since last December, we have provided a resource and hope more parents and students, as appropriate by age, will take advantage of this.

We have partnered with SmartSocial.com for its on-demand courses for parents and students. The SmartSocial resources cover a wide range of digital and social media topics. We are providing a parent subscription package to these resources to help you learn how to navigate the negative (and positive) parts of social media with your students.
