WEEKLY REMINDERS
Week of November 18, 2024
NEWS and NOTES
COMMENDED STUDENTS IN THE 2025 NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Dr. Rittenhouse announced that Alexander Aharon, Finnegan Keon, Eunis Lee, Helen Lutz and Jemmi Seeherman have been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Certificate of Commendation for the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, was presented by the school to these scholastically talented Seniors.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2025 competition for the National Merit Scholarship Awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Scholarship Qualifying Test.
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson at NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

Lunch and Learn
Lunch and Learn is a time for students to eat lunch and receive support from their teachers. Any student with a grade of a D or an F, is scheduled into a 30 minute block of time with the specific teacher, and attendance is mandatory. You can log into your student’s schedule (or ask them) to determine if they have a LNL scheduled class (Dr. Z also sends every student a reminder email).
This is a reminder that STHS is a closed campus. Students are not allowed to leave campus without permission and must have an educational reason. Students are also not allowed to use any food delivery company (Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc.) to have food delivered to the campus. Please have a conversation with your student/students regarding this issue.
STHS Celebrates
As we continue to foster a positive and supportive environment here at STHS, I’m reaching out with an exciting new initiative aimed at celebrating the incredible accomplishments happening within our school community.
From academic achievements to extracurricular successes and everything in between, we know that many of our students, staff, and families are making remarkable strides both in school and beyond. However, we don’t always get the chance to highlight these moments and share them with the broader community.
That’s why we are launching a new effort to gather and share these accomplishments. Whether it’s a student earning an award, a teacher leading a new project, or a club making a difference in the community, we want to celebrate and showcase these stories!
How to Participate:
If you, your student, or your organization has an accomplishment you'd like to share, please submit a brief description of the achievement, along with any photos or videos on the Google Form.
Accomplishments can include academic milestones, athletic achievements, artistic endeavors, community service projects, or any other noteworthy successes.
We will compile these submissions and periodically share them through our school website and newsletters to ensure that everyone in our school family can join in the celebration.
By highlighting these moments, we hope to inspire others, build pride in our school community, and create a culture where success is shared and recognized.
Thank you for being a part of this special initiative. We can’t wait to see and celebrate all the amazing things happening in our Springfield Township High School Family!

As we head into the fall, students have an increased chance of coming down with an illness. To help keep your child healthy, please remind them of the following best practices:
Practice good hygiene- wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds frequently, but especially after using the restroom and before and after eating
Cover your coughs and sneezes. Use your elbow to ensure maximum coverage.
Stay home when you are sick (i.e. running a fever, vomiting, diarrhea)
Talk to your doctor and stay up to date on vaccinations
