January RULER Lessons
This month’s RULER lessons focus on students identifying what makes someone their “best self.” Students will explore the Meta-Moment, and learn how to employ their “best selves.” The goal of the Meta-Moment is to create more time so that we can move away from using automatic, uncontrolled, ineffective strategies and closer to conscious, intentional, effective strategies. The master strategies we can use anytime, anywhere are the breath, positive reappraisal, and positive self-talk. We encourage you to read the parent connection letter linked below. These letters are a great way to reinforce what your child(ren) is learning at school.

PTA Meeting
Please join us for our next PTA general meeting on Monday, January 29th at 8:45am in the EHS Library.
Parents are invited to join PTA board members and school personnel to learn more about the PTA, current and upcoming school- and district-wide events and happenings, and the ways in which they can get more involved. We are always looking for new volunteers and ideas!
Can't make the meeting but want to get more involved? Email us at lizzyhaddonpta@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you!
Noontime Enrichment Chairperson Needed
If you're looking to get more involved, then have we got the perfect position for YOU!
We need a parent volunteer to organize this year's Noontime Enrichment program. The program takes place during lunch/recess during which parents come in to teach a class of their design. Past classes have included jewelry making, chess, Legos, arts and crafts, jiu jitsu, etc. Just about anything that is school- and age-appropriate goes!
The chair will organize all aspects of this Lizzy lunchtime program, including recruiting parent "teachers," coordinating days/times/spaces for parent volunteers, organizing class sign-ups, placing students in their chosen groups, and helping to ensure that classes run smoothly.
The program begins on Monday, February 5th and ends on Friday, March 15th.
Please email lizzyhaddonpta@gmail.com with any questions and/or to sign up for the position.

One School, One Book Parent Committee
As we strive to foster a love for reading and strengthen our school community, we are excited to continue our One School, One Book initiative at the elementary level. The shared experience of reading a single book as a community can promote unity, stimulate meaningful discussions, and create lasting memories for students and their families. We will roll this out in March, unveiling the book to students at a school community meeting.
To ensure this program's success, we are forming a dedicated committee of parents from each school to join us.
As a committee member, your responsibilities will include:
Book Selection: Collaborate with other committee members to provide feedback regarding this year’s book selection and help in next year’s selection process.
- Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community by encouraging families to read and discuss the selected book together.
Feedback and Evaluation: Provide feedback on the program's effectiveness and suggest improvements for future initiatives.
- Event: We will have a culminating activity. You will be invited to attend, but this is not required.
We anticipate holding three one-hour meetings virtually. We hope you will consider joining our committee! Parent support and dedication to our schools truly enhance the work we do, and your involvement will help contribute to the success of the One School, One Book program.
Please complete this form if you are interested in serving on this committee. Committee members will be informed via email. Form due date is Friday 1/12/24.

Students on School Grounds After School
This is a reminder that students are not permitted to play after school unless a parent or guardian supervises them. As per district policy and the school handbook, students are expected to go directly home at the end of the school day unless supervised by a parent or guardian. After school students are to be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. I appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Directory 23-24
We are excited to announce that the PTA has once again covered the cost of the directory for the 23/24 school year. If you were a DirectorySpot user last year, then you don’t need to do anything. If you are a NEW user, you can download DirectorySpot for free from the App Store (iPhone users) or Google Play (Android users), or you can also access the data from the web: https://www.directoryspot.net. There will be no paper directory, everything is through the app or website.
If you are already in the directory, please log in to confirm and/or update your family contact information. Please note that we will update student grade levels in July, so it might be best to log in sometime in August. If you need to make a change, you will need to do so using the website, not the app.
If you are new to the district or you were never added to the directory, please fill out this form and you will be added to the directory by October 1, 2023. After the beginning of October, I will update the directory on a weekly basis as new submissions come in.
Having contact information up to date is more important now than ever. Please email Lindsey Murphy at lindseyaperry@yahoo.com with any questions!Pets Prohibited on School Grounds
Dogs are not permitted on the school property during school hours and at drop off and pick up times. Although many children feel safe around animals, some children have adverse reactions to pets even though they may be well trained. We have noticed some families bringing pets onto the school grounds especially at morning line-up or pick-up. Please be considerate of others by cooperating with this policy.
All Community News must be sent to Mr. Chuck Klaus’s office for approval. Community members should submit their news by email to Ms. Channell Jorrin at cjorrin@haddonfield.k12.nj.us in order to be included. Please do not send news directly to the school principals.
