Week In Review and A Look Ahead
December 6, 2024
Notes from the Principal
Our calendar of events has been updated, so please be sure to check it out to help you with your long term planning. Please note that those students in Middle School who are taking Algebra I will have their Keystone exams in May. The District calendar doesn't differentiate between the HS and MS and posts a testing session in December.
Concert season is upon us and I hope our community members will be able to take in a show. Our combined East/West orchestra performs at MSW tonight, December 6 at 7:00PM. Monday, December 9, at BASH will be our Choral Concert. On Friday, December 13 at 7:00PM our band will perform at MSE. The holiday season seems never "real" to me until the winter concerts hit the stage!
Winter Choral Concert
Winter Spirit Week
Student Council is hosting Spirit Week from December 16th - December 20th. Show your school and holiday spirit by participating in each day! Homeroom teachers will select the student who is most spirited each day to be entered into a raffle to win a prize. We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s holiday spirit!
November Star Students
Congratulations to the following 6th and 7th graders who were selected as "Star Students" for the month of November from their team teachers. Way to go!
Kindness Award
The 6th grade teams are recognizing students that go above and beyond to show Kindness. On the bulletin board next to the speech classroom in the 6th grade hallway, is a display containing pictures of 6th graders caught being kind. When a teacher sees a student go out of their way to show kindness, they will receive a certificate to take home and have their picture displayed on the bulletin board. If you see a sticker on a student’s picture, it means that student has been recognized more than once. Remember, “Kindness is free to give, but priceless to receive.”
November Kindness Award winners are:
Mark Aziz
Scarlett Mullowney
Patrick Altomari
Ben Moyer
Raider Fausnaught
Colton Sayyeau
Brynn Hooven
Isaiah Sacks
Charlotte McDermott
Mark Jozos

The Physical Education department would like to congratulate our November spotlight students who exemplify dedication and positivity in every class. These standout individuals consistently come prepared, demonstrating a strong work ethic and an eagerness to engage in activities. Their enthusiasm uplifts their peers, and their willingness to help others fosters a supportive and encouraging environment. These students embody the true spirit of teamwork and perseverance, making them role models in the PE and beyond.

Colonial Day
On Tuesday before Thanksgiving, our 8th graders were treated to Colonial Day that culminated with a presentation from American Revolutionary War reeanctor, Ned Hector. Within their teams, students participated in various activities centered around the Revolutionary War and Colonial times.
Winter Semi-Formal Dance
Student Council and TSA are hosting the semi-formal dance “A Night in New York City” on Friday, January 10th. The dance will be at MSE from 7-9 PM. The cost of the dance is $5. The dance is for students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
We will be following a special, more formal, dress code for this dance. Students may not wear jeans, sweatpants, or athletic pants/shorts. The dress code options are as follows:
- A collared shirt with dress pants or khakis. Ties are optional.
- A dress, dress pants and blouse, or skirt and blouse. Dresses may have spaghetti straps, halter straps, or a single strap. Dresses may not be open-back or have any bare midriff or side cut-outs. All dresses/skirts must be the required length according to the district dress code.
- Students may wear dress shoes, flats, or sneakers.
What's So Cool About Manufacturing!
On Wednesday, our "What's So Cool About Manufacturing" team went to Reading Truck headquarters to learn and film footage for this year's contest. The students learned a lot and had a fantastic experience visiting the manufacturing plant. More to come as this project develops!
Middle School East 50th Anniversary Open House
We are hard at work planning a special celebration for our community this spring. MSE has been a great place to be for 50 years and we will be recognizing our school, students, and staff with an Open House celebration in April. Stay tuned as more details are finalized for this evening community event.
MSE Book Fair
Thank you for supporting the book fair!
We are pleased to share that at the start of the fair, there were three carts filled with gently loved books for our students who wanted to take them. By the end of the fair, the books from two of the carts found new homes with eager readers!
Donations to Boyertown United Way
During the book fair, students could donate loose change to the Boyertown United Way. Students generously donated $51.32 to this local organization.
