News and Notes for Parents at Plymouth North
Approaching the Midpoint of the School Year!
Over the next few weeks, PNHS will be wrapping up the first half of the school year by completing first semester and second term course work and preparing the transition into what is typically the most impactful part of the school year.
With foundations set and paths laid for student learning growth, it's over the next few months that the opportunities for real student success becomes the most evident. Our students will be performing, competing, presenting and crafting some of the most complex, thoughtful work of their lives and we can't wait to see all they will achieve both in the classroom and after school because of the effort they have invested this school year.
As we enter this third term centered on "Grit", we welcome your support, feedback and questions in helping to make sure your child succeeds at PNHS! We all can't want to see what amazing things they will achieve in the coming months!

She brings her best to every lesson and keeps students actively engaged and eager to learn. Her influence extends well beyond the classroom—particularly through her dedication to Eagles for Equity. Her students create a portfolio that shows their development as an artist and their growing understanding of art as a form of expression.
3. What Teachers are Working on at North
We are very lucky at North: Our educators don't just work hard during their precious minutes in the classroom, they are skilled educators who apply a career's worth of experience and training to deliver an ever improving product that is focused on feedback, research and assessment of results beyond the school day all the time.
Already this year, our staff has dedicated hours to several areas we hope will improve the experience school-wide for students, but also in their classrooms. Here's what we've been working on outside the typical classroom environment:
- January and February Professional Day Workshops: After students are dismissed on the half days, our faculty members participate in a myriad of sessions within our building that help them improve their practice or develop new strategies. The workshops include, just to name a few:
- Training to help supervise a 6 week bullying-prevention and character development program for Freshmen
- Understanding Precipitating Behaviors and Strategies to Help Support Students in a Positive Manner
- Identifying Strategies and Best Practices to Support the Challenges facing Student-Athletes
- Developing Common Assessments within Departments for Alike Courses
- Collaborative Forum for Aligning Goals and Strategies for Class and Student Council Advisors
- Positive Behavior Strategies for Classroom Implementation
- Training for teachers on AI tools such as Google's Gemini and Notebook LM
- Strategies for supporting EL students in their College Search, Application and Financial Aid Process
- Implementation of new Math Technology to enhance student learning progress
- Modeling Sample Lessons across departments to find best practices to implement hands-on learning strategies for improved student learning
- Faculty Meeting Workshops: After school, faculty and staff will engage in collaborative conversations on a wide variety of topics like attendance, cell phones, student engagement and more to help provide teacher voice and actionable feedback on how to improve the school and student performance building wide.

5. Grade 8 Tech Expo Tonight!
After field trips to PSHS to learn more about our various CCTE programs available at both High Schools in Plymouth, both schools open their doors in one big night to help provide information to families as well.
Tonight, Thursday, January 9th we will be showcasing our CCTE programs and classrooms as well as our Academic Departments at Plymouth North High School at 5:00pm in the Performing Arts Center.
At our Expo, parents can learn about the major CCTE programs offered specifically at North, as well as the specifics on how our Freshman Academy is crafted to assist our 9th grade transition in a brief overview program.
Then, students and parents can tour the first floor for the opportunity to see our CCTE shops and classrooms, meet our Academic Department Heads and CCTE teachers, see our VPA studios, TV studio, gym, library and cafeteria and ask your questions directly to PNHS staff about what's in store for our incoming 9th graders next year.
As a reminder, both CCTE and Biomedical Program applications are due by Friday, January 31st. Paper applications will be available at the event and digital applications are available online now via the district website.
We welcome you to attend or to reach out to any of us at PNHS for more information or to answer any of your questions!
